Drömnu’s career is in full bloom. Pina has been a key figure in Barcelona’s electronic underground since the late 90s (Sloan, anyone?). His passion for musical experimentation has not only remained intact over time, it has also led him to work on his sound to a level of purification and thoroughness that has established its own distinct, recognizable style at first listening.

A sound that materialized in the successful “Onda Corta” [Lapsus, 2011] and “Hum” [Lapsus, 2013]; two works that are part of this “Lapsus Trilogy” which is now complete with “Transit” [Lapsus, 2015]. 

Slow and solid rhythms midway between the laboratory and the dance floor which combine Pina’s usual muscular and distorted rhythms with soaring melodies and bubbling acid passages. Undoubtedly, the most brilliant and personal work of our local hero Pedro Pina.

Fontäns third album titled “Fontän”, released on Höga Nord Rekords is that kind of an album. Put the opening track “Mangsebung” on, then stay with the record until the closer “Shadows” rings out and you will go clear, sharp, and mildly messed up by the listening experience because this is an extremely well directed trip in mind-altering music! This album needed time to reach such heights.
The width of range in influences has become somewhat of a trademark for Fontän. Magma, Pink Floyd, Bhutanese and Nordic folk music, Manuel Göttsching and Ashra, Robert Fripp and King Crimson, Steve Reich, Philip Glass, Talking Heads, DJ Shadow, Brian Eno, Boards of Canada, are some of the music that has made a mark on the psychedelic duo. One of the main differences though between Fontän and other bands with a similar setup of names to drop is that many cannot transform those musical traditions into timeless and boundless songs like those in Fontäns catalogue. With Johan Melin’s and Jesper Jarold’s love for music and non-sentimental creative approach, this album proves that the band never gets hung up on trying to sound like the past masters, but to develop what they once started.
2017 will be the year when Fontän once again challenges the framework for genre bending music. “Fontän” captures the inspired and unafraid feeling from their releases in 2016 but is managed and even more refined on this album.
This is Fontäns evolution.

"Costa Vaya is a pure underground and low profile artist.

Wherever you listen to his sets you will soon realize that he speaks through his music. Most of the times emotional but at times hard and raw, his sets oscillate between house and techno. He was born in the early 80s in Zurich, and as a child, he started receiving incentives from the first wave of techno from Detroit to Europe. After he moved to Greece, he started collecting vinyl and he soon got onto his first appearances. At the age of 17, he was already an integrated dj with weekly residencies and monthly gigs.

Huge influences on him were Siampanis P and G-kash, his local mentors, but also Akylla, one of the house pioneers in Greece. Costa has studied music technology and audio engineer in Athens and started producing tracks.

He now lives in Patra. He gives all of his energy on djing, collaborating with all the hot names of the scene in countless gigs in Greece and Europe. He also composes scores for films, theatrical plays and documentaries."

"Notes against the Current“ was completely patched and composed on a modular synth. Since there’s no technical possibility to edit or save the music, most of the tracks are more or less  unique live recordings, with the modular acting as a canvas for moods and memories being reflected in the moment of patching the tracks. 

HHNOI’s music is like an evolving soundtrack, with harmonies and melodies you would not expect coming out of machinery that is often being ridiculed for sounding like rather car alarm sounds than listenable music. Nevertheless, HHNOI is far from being easy. As with his former projects, Petracca likes to break with expectations, by transforming enchantingly melancholic and lush harmonies and melodies into walls of feedback noises.

Taking its title from a Minoan legend that deals with rage, greed and destruction, the latest release from Abyss X expands and reconstructs conceptions of aural space and time. Out on February 23 on Danse Noire, Pleasures of the Bull finds the multi-disciplinary artist and producer flirting with the sounds of hard jazz while mystifying the parameters of experimental music across several distinct movements, thus allowing the listener to break free from their sonic principles.

Intoxicating, ambient textures mesh with Abyss X’s own expressive vocals, as well as the sounds of the traditional Cretan lyra, played by Maria Skoula. Her sound modification creates a collage of temporalities – allow yourself to move outside linear dimensions, and her to confide in you. Prog rock guitar lines twist stolidly beneath warped vocal samples, and the timbre of the bowed lyra permeates the atmosphere in a thick, suffocating haze.

As the listener travels through space and time, so too does the artist. Abyss X delves into the fullness of her craft, drawing from her background in theater and performance, in addition to the frenzied energy of her live shows as a musician. The music throbs with a frantic yet unmistakably deliberate drama. Pleasures of the Bull feels like a gentle punch in the gut; a compelling auditory performance and a bold exploration of the narrative album format.
