All proceeds will be going towards Naarm based collective 'Pay the Rent'.

The land on which we live, work, and play was stolen from indigenous peoples, and sold by non-indigenous people for profit which has been disproportionately distributed for generations. So it is time to put an end to this and pay the rent that we owe. 
All proceeds will be heading to pay The Rent. A collective based on the lands of the Kulin nation here in Victoria, Australia. It is made up of both indigenous and non-indigenous peoples and is about honouring the sovereignty of Indigenous peoples by distributing rent to local Aboriginal groups at a grassroots level. Where it can be allocated by indigenous peoples, to indigenous peoples for anything from health services, education, arts and culture, housing, legal costs, and more. 
“Paying the Rent is a step towards acknowledging these facts. It is part of a process that all non-indigenous people - individually and collectively - need to enter into if we are to move towards justice, truth, equality and liberation for First Nations people.”

41ISSA – HÖR x WARNING (April 14th 2021)

We premiere Scottish electronic music royalty, Vince Watson. The now Netherlands based artist returns for his incredible 13th album, which is no mean feat for any musician.

Vince has had a massive year with releases on Get Physical, Tronic, SushiTech, All Day I Dream, his own Everysoul Audio and a host of remixes. 

Vince ends 2021 by presenting his label’s biggest and most adventurous release to date, ‘DnA [re]Sequenced’. This is also accompanied by the [re]Sequenced Sampler which features 3 brand new mixes from the DnA album by Vince himself. The album also features some of electronic music titans including Carl Craig, Claude Young, Jon Dixon, Steve Rachmad, John Beltran, Shawn Rudiman, Stephen Lopkina and Stephen Brown.

After the massive response to Watson’s ‘DnA’ album in 2019, Vince had wanted to carve a different spin on the LP by having some of the tracks remixed by his favourite Detroit ‘flavoured’ artists from the three places that have influenced his music: Scotland, Amsterdam, Detroit. 

We premiere his track ‘First Wave [808 Mix]’. The track is reminiscent of some classic Galaxy 2 Galaxy records from Underground Resistance. A punchy but still funky 808 drum workout locks in the groove while angelic style synth work transcends you to space. Warm and fluffy pads simmer through the track while a powerful baseline runs through your body, the heavenly lead bounces around the track with an entrancing melody. The track is powerful, euphoric and tranquil all at the one time. 

This is proper electronic music.

Looking at the state of affairs, the title of Tom’s debut EP Not A Bright Future will certainly resonate with a lot of listeners. Albeit the pessimistic outlook, we are witnessing the emergence of an exciting new talent on the horizon. Tom’s year-long involvement within the electronic music scene – be it as a DJ, curator or host of the renowned Tech Talk events, materializes into an iridescent sound palette: from bittersweet arpeggios, to mind-melting, dubby bass patterns, to melancholy-inducing acid synths, his work aims to capture the many moods and shifts on your typical night out. On the flip, Sarah Farina retreats the opening track ‘Dressed to Kill (feat. Enya EI)’, creating a sonic scenery simultaneously situated on 90s UK field raves and contemporary dancefloors. Navigating between time and space, the message of the EP converts into a subtle optimism: When the future doesn’t look bright, embracing the presence becomes imperative.

For our second premiere of the week, we premiere a track from Glasgow based producer, Hank LW. One of Dublin’s most consistent producers has come through with a hypnotising, breakbeat anthem.

A string of sel releases, a release on the coveted Yin Yang various artists, Born Sleepy, Ganfeld Records & various radio appearances have made for an illustrious career fuelled by analog hardware and smooth selections.

The exceptionally talented Glasgow-based Dublin producer returns for his second outing on Modem Records. His track ‘Observer’ is a top-quality blend of electro synths and analog breaks, masterfully combined with a lucid top vocal that expresses his signature sound and identity perfectly.

Modem Records presents Overlooked Essentials Vol. II, a multi-genre compilation album in aid of the non-profit Feed Our Homeless charity in Dublin. This is Modem’s second instalment of their annual compilation – giving emerging talent the opportunity to promote their work with some of the country’s most established artists, while giving back to essential community services at the most difficult time of year.
