London based producer, Kai van Dongen, has hugely impressed in a short space of time, with key releases dropping on labels like 1ØPILLS MATE, Truncate and BLK DRP.  On his debut for Eats Everything & Andres Campo’s EI8HT imprint, van Dongen tees up a trio of funky belters on the ‘Free Your Mind’ EP.

Lead track, ‘Free Your Mind’, cajoles some intense hypnotic sensations amongst its breakneck pace, incessant claps and rubbery synth stabs, whilst ‘The Sun’s Out’ doesn’t drop the energy levels for one second, as fierce and hardcore tones rain down over crisp and precision beats.   Closing this cracking release for EI8HT, van Dongen parades more of his techno chops on ‘We Will Chat’, and confirming that this is one artist who is going to go from strength to strength over the coming months.

PREMIERE: Uncertain - Pattern

Sound Avenue presents the Deep Motions EP from Brazilian producers Cipriani and Hans Gerd. The three-track release features the title piece Deep Motions alongside Woods Acid Adventure and Antares, offering a refined blend of deep, melodic, and progressive sounds.

Based in Brasília, Hans Gerd made his first appearance on the label group with a track on the Dimensions compilation and later contributed releases to both 3rd Avenue and Future Avenue. Known for his warm-up sets and his role as co-founder of the local collective Altar, Hans brings a detailed and organic touch to his productions.

Cipriani makes his debut on Sound Avenue, following recent collaborations with Hans Gerd on 3rd Avenue and Future Avenue. Together, the duo showcases a natural creative chemistry, delivering an EP that captures the deep, percussive, and evolving essence of the Sound Avenue sound.

X1 has a remarkable and outspoken bassline with a slighty ‘back in the days’-feel created by the drums. Slowly the organ theme grows and grows until you get used to it. Heavy hitting claps make sure to keep your attention towards the break. And then… X2 has a driving groove as the main subject. Steered by an almost annoying high pitched pad and later some haunting strings. The real science starts when Endlec works his magic. His unique drum programming and distorted yet sophisticated approach of the elements creates the best remix. X3, the fast groover with a slick bassline, a cheeky synth and jacking drums is perhaps a safe approach. But we guarantee this will work on every dancefloor. Brighton's Charles Green makes his debut on Ben Sims' Hardgroove imprint this summer with 'Routes', four hardware jams which display his love of classic techno sounds. 

Green has made his name as a resident at Brighton's lauded Pattern's venue, where his own night First Floor has been responsible for flying the techno flag on the UK's South coast in recent years. With just handful of releases under his belt, he's a producer that has focussed on learning his craft and, on 'Routes', it shows. 

From the rowdy, evolving stabs of 'Rave No Name' and 'Strange Leader' to the break driven 'Musikbox', previously seen on Sims' 2018 'Tribology' comp, 'Routes' sees Green explore the relationship between UK rave sounds and classic, raw techno with ease.  Closing out the EP with 'Routes', the deft producer also displays a canny knack for depth and melody within his style too.

Premiere: Charles Green - Rave No Name [HARDGROOVE27]

After being introduced to electronic music back in the early 90's in Los Angeles, a teenage David Flores was hooked. He started DJing across Southern California on the DIY warehouse, backyard, desert, and rave circuit. His style then was as varied as the local scene - a myriad of sounds ranging from house to acid to techno to hardcore. After a few years solely DJing, he began releasing original music under the monikers David F & Audio Injection, which landed him on labels such as Monoid, Stimulus, 4 Track & LA label Droid Recordings. His association with Droid Behavior began in 2003 as resident at the now defunct yet infamous and internationally acclaimed Interface event series alongside Drumcell and Raiz. He currently runs a new event series together with Drumcell and Oktaform named “Observe”.

In early 2011, he started the project Truncate to focus on the deeper, raw side of techno. His Truncate releases early on gained critical acclaim from world class underground talent such as Modeselektor, Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Chris Liebing, Speedy J, DVS1, Luke Slater, Ben Sims, Josh Wink, Eats Everything, Joris Voorn, and many more. Since then, he has provided remixes for artists across the musical spectrum including Kink, Slam, Loco Dice, Ben Sims, Josh Wink, Ellen Alien, Miss Kittin, Carl Cox & Nicole Moudaber. He has also released original works on 50 Weapons, Ultramajic, Blueprint, Ei8ht, Figure and of course his own imprint Truncate. He has also collaborated with Jimmy Edgar, Chambray and most recently started a new project with Ben Sims as ‘Assailants’ which they’ve released on their own imprint ‘Obscurity Is Infinite’.

A rigorous international tour schedule has since followed, including stops and regular appearances at the most prestigious venues and events, including Berghain in Berlin, Fabric in London, Concrete in Paris, The Movement Festival in Detroit, Womb in Tokyo, Dimensions Festival in Croatia, Awakenings in Amsterdam, Output in New York, and many more.

With his heavy remix, production and touring schedule there is still no slowing down for David. He continues to shape an evolving sound and to champion the Los Angeles underground.
