In 1998, some 12 years after Cisco Ferreira aka The Advent started materializing his musical vision, he established the Kombination Research label. Initially it was an outlet for Cisco’s innovative techno and electro cuts under his The Advent moniker. That changed in 2006: the twentieth release on the label was a collaboration with Davide Squillace called ‘Bike On The Rocks / Changing Guards’. From that moment on, the label would include practically everything: solo releases by The Advent himself, collaborations and solo work by other artists, the only consistent factor being that the label was always on the forefront of international techno. Though the imprint went digital in 2005,
everything in the period from 1998-2005 was never released digitally... Until now. The label is nearing its 100th release and to celebrate, KR100 will consist of a collection of all the tracks that weren’t released digitally. And to top it off, the release will also feature some previously unreleased work from The Advent, plus a segment recorded from a live set he did at the Motor club in Detroit, back in 1998. So gear up for a collection of both fresh cuts and cuts from the vault...

After being introduced to electronic music back in the early 90's in Los Angeles, a teenage David Flores was hooked. He started DJing across Southern California on the DIY warehouse, backyard, desert, and rave circuit. His style then was as varied as the local scene - a myriad of sounds ranging from house to acid to techno to hardcore. After a few years solely DJing, he began releasing original music under the monikers David F & Audio Injection, which landed him on labels such as Monoid, Stimulus, 4 Track & LA label Droid Recordings. His association with Droid Behavior began in 2003 as resident at the now defunct yet infamous and internationally acclaimed Interface event series alongside Drumcell and Raiz. He currently runs a new event series together with Drumcell and Oktaform named “Observe”.

In early 2011, he started the project Truncate to focus on the deeper, raw side of techno. His Truncate releases early on gained critical acclaim from world class underground talent such as Modeselektor, Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Chris Liebing, Speedy J, DVS1, Luke Slater, Ben Sims, Josh Wink, Eats Everything, Joris Voorn, and many more. Since then, he has provided remixes for artists across the musical spectrum including Kink, Slam, Loco Dice, Ben Sims, Josh Wink, Ellen Alien, Miss Kittin, Carl Cox & Nicole Moudaber. He has also released original works on 50 Weapons, Ultramajic, Blueprint, Ei8ht, Figure and of course his own imprint Truncate. He has also collaborated with Jimmy Edgar, Chambray and most recently started a new project with Ben Sims as ‘Assailants’ which they’ve released on their own imprint ‘Obscurity Is Infinite’.

A rigorous international tour schedule has since followed, including stops and regular appearances at the most prestigious venues and events, including Berghain in Berlin, Fabric in London, Concrete in Paris, The Movement Festival in Detroit, Womb in Tokyo, Dimensions Festival in Croatia, Awakenings in Amsterdam, Output in New York, and many more.

With his heavy remix, production and touring schedule there is still no slowing down for David. He continues to shape an evolving sound and to champion the Los Angeles underground.
