Never one to rest on his laurels, Michael Woods quickly returns to the fold with US singer/songwriter powerhouse Andrea Martin. With a history that includes the writing credits for En Vogue, Toni Braxton, Angie Stone and Leona Lewis, she steps up on vocal duties with the Michael Jackson tinged ‘Sleep’. An ode to living life to the full, this couldn’t be in better hands than Woods who has crafted something a little different in his original, alongside the fire that are current UK favorites Hot Source and the fast emerging No Mana. Another month, another release crammed full of techno goodness to fulfil your needs. This time we welcome back "Kenny Campbell" and "Dylan Hill" with their incredible collaboration Bone Skippers. This one has been in the works for a while, we wanted to ensure it was one to remember as with every release on this label, perfectly crafted sounds, the most solid techno we can provide. As the title says this is "Volume 2", look for the original Drum Machine EP on any of our stores or on Bandcamp, a timeless EP, as is this one. Kicking off as with the original EP we have the second instalment or "take" on the concept with "Drum Machine 2", the straight to the point, no nonsense production does exactly what you want, it bangs. From the get-go this track hammers through and will hammer the dance-floor very robust yet familiar, the soothing sounds of Bone Skippers. Track two is another thumper this time they went for a good ol' four on the floor track with "Drums of Hell", an eerie sounding track with some creepy synths and sick twisted sense of doom throughout, this track would send most club goers demented, "what we got here is failure to communicate, some men you just cant reach, so we get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it." Track 3 is a feast of techno, called "Feast of Cadavers" an absolute stomper of a track, busy percs, a solid kick that would knock you to the ground, and some demented eerie synts the little breaks and the solid drops are crafted perfectly. A truly magnificent track. All of the remixes come courtesy of label regulars, first off we have the New Zealand duo, Duo Alias, with their take of "Drum Machine 2", a very well put together remix, constantly progressing with their trademark style, hard as nails, a superb addition to the release. Following the Duo Alias remix of "Drum Machine 2" we have Blurred Boys take of the track, a nice take, adding yet another dimension to this already vastly varied release, but this is not Blurred Boys only addition to the release, he has also mustered up a remix for "Drums of Hell". Both of these remixes add Blurred Boys distinct sound to this EP perfectly. Last on remix we have an absolute stomper of a remix from someone who is involved in all of our releases wether you know it or not, it's Interferon, he has provided a distinctive, banging, and memorable remix to the table with his take of "Feast of Cadavers" really rounding off this release in a very special way that only he could do.

Variance are back with our usual unique and authentic sound. This time we see the return of label regulars, Duo Alias, after they initially joined us with their track on the Variance300 compilation with Future Tense, and their well received album Second Sight, they have gone on to release B£$tard !​!​! on our Xmas free VA, Funktion CORE on Various Artist Volume 1., remix OLVE/KCRAs' CHNGL, and Bone Skippers most recent EP Drum Machine 2s' title track Drum Machine 2, and the most recent one was on the Variance4000 compilation with The Choice. So they have become a part of the furniture here at Variance, and they aren't some old sofa, they are more or less, an entire room of top of the range furniture!! The support for them has been immense, watching them grow and become more and more popular has been a pleasure to watch. Yet again, they have outdone themselves with four incredible original tracks, we would of done a second album with the demos they sent, but they insisted we whittle it down to four, we feel like they were the best four in the pack, but with their production skills and efficient and their substantial output it wan't easy, but we picked the varying tracks, The Human Factor, King Size, State Express and Shadows and Symbols, each of which has the Duo Alias stamp all over them. On to the remixes, first up we have label regular Blurred Boy, he has featured on Variance more then any other artist, including the owner of the label, and with his output on the label, remixes, originals, and remixes of his originals, he is head and shoulders above others, you can go onto our Beatport, Juno, Soundcloud or Bandcamp and hear his sound develop and progress, this time he provided a broken beat 128bpm remix of King Size, remnant of British Murder Boys, he certainly could be a French Murder Boy, if that was ever to happen. Then we have new to the crew Black Market Nutrition, the currently anonymous duo will be featuring heavily in the future on Variance, they remixed Shadows and Symbols, to great effect. A great way to kick off their presence on the label, with a prior remix on Blurred Boys' Blurry Tracks, that we recommend you check out. to round it off another great art-work from Interferon, as per usual he out did himself. Enjoy the package, and watch this space, things are getting bigger and better, like you couldn't even imagine.

After being introduced to electronic music back in the early 90's in Los Angeles, a teenage David Flores was hooked. He started DJing across Southern California on the DIY warehouse, backyard, desert, and rave circuit. His style then was as varied as the local scene - a myriad of sounds ranging from house to acid to techno to hardcore. After a few years solely DJing, he began releasing original music under the monikers David F & Audio Injection, which landed him on labels such as Monoid, Stimulus, 4 Track & LA label Droid Recordings. His association with Droid Behavior began in 2003 as resident at the now defunct yet infamous and internationally acclaimed Interface event series alongside Drumcell and Raiz. He currently runs a new event series together with Drumcell and Oktaform named “Observe”.

In early 2011, he started the project Truncate to focus on the deeper, raw side of techno. His Truncate releases early on gained critical acclaim from world class underground talent such as Modeselektor, Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Chris Liebing, Speedy J, DVS1, Luke Slater, Ben Sims, Josh Wink, Eats Everything, Joris Voorn, and many more. Since then, he has provided remixes for artists across the musical spectrum including Kink, Slam, Loco Dice, Ben Sims, Josh Wink, Ellen Alien, Miss Kittin, Carl Cox & Nicole Moudaber. He has also released original works on 50 Weapons, Ultramajic, Blueprint, Ei8ht, Figure and of course his own imprint Truncate. He has also collaborated with Jimmy Edgar, Chambray and most recently started a new project with Ben Sims as ‘Assailants’ which they’ve released on their own imprint ‘Obscurity Is Infinite’.

A rigorous international tour schedule has since followed, including stops and regular appearances at the most prestigious venues and events, including Berghain in Berlin, Fabric in London, Concrete in Paris, The Movement Festival in Detroit, Womb in Tokyo, Dimensions Festival in Croatia, Awakenings in Amsterdam, Output in New York, and many more.

With his heavy remix, production and touring schedule there is still no slowing down for David. He continues to shape an evolving sound and to champion the Los Angeles underground.
