Portuguese based Nørbak returns to Soma with his second single for the label, the Myelination EP. Nørbak is quickly making a name for himself in the global scene and has just completed his debut album to much critical acclaim. The young producer has built a wealth of knowledge on sound design and is clearly represented in his music which is deep and rich in sonic experiments whilst retaining dancefloor focus. This latest EP has Spanish techno maestro Oscar Mulero & fellow Portuguese talent Lewis Fautzi, deliver two fantastic remixes that perfectly compliment the originals.

Nørbak's "Myelination" starts the EP with driving percussive elements that propel the track from the opening. Swamped with light & ethereal FX, dark and droning sounds take the track down a ominous path. Lewis Fautzi steps up next with his remix of Myelination. With a more minimalistic interpretation he manages to continue the dark and direct momentum of the original. On the flip, Mirante rattle hards with steady and precise percussion, bolted together with heavy rolling kicks and sub and a perfectly muted rhythm throughout. Techno don Oscar Mulero closes the EP with his version of Mirante. He immediately ups the ante with driving 909 beats and huge atmospheric FX that guide the rhythms. Mulero always on point with his signature sound design and techno aesthetic.

Parisian label Skryptöm continue with a persistent release schedule following an album from fellow French artist by Maxime Dangles titled Chanfleury. Soon available will be the second remix that includes reimagined versions of his originals by Remco Beekwilder, Wlderz, Xl.iks, Maëlstrom, and Giselh.

Flying high is Dutchman Remco Beekwilder who not only runs his EMERALD imprint, but can be found contributing tracks and remixes to labels such as Dax J’s Monnom Black, Exos’ Planet X and Cleric’s Clergy amongst others.

For this DT:Premiere we selected Remco’s remix of “Gigi” that has a patient intro of ambience before the rolling toms and kick take over. Carved and well-sculpted percussion provide the driving force, while being met with dreamy pads, vocal chants and a poignant mood.

This 4-track EP was created by our collective member humagn who already delivered our second release "INSTINKTLAB002". The remixes were provided by Stuttgart-based „Schimmer Records“ founder Egotot.

The first track of the EP "Tribal Dub" shines with rythmic congas and a captivating monotony paired with a powerful vocal and a dark atmosphere. Egotot’s Remix has some nice short breaks and is generally divided into short loops. This is a typical feature which he uses in his productions for a lively groove.
"hitme" is a wild but minimalistic composition of chords, deep bleeps and a rough baseline which creates an oldschool-felt vibe.
The tooly remix by Egotot seduces with its abstraction into a endless danceable trance.

On an invitation to travel to India in 2019, as part of the global BUDX event series as documented by Vice Media, Truncate finds himself in Hyderabad, bustling technology capital and birthplace of biryani.

Joining him for the week is emerging Indian producer Dotdat, representing the rising techno scene in this most diverse and populous country. The pair found themselves exchanging culture and of course music over a few days spent in Windhorse Studios, resulting in a unique collaboration of the West Coast meets the Southeast that transpired into the singular style showcased on their EP “HYD"

TRUNCATE21 - Truncate & Dotdat(PREVIEW)

After being introduced to electronic music back in the early 90's in Los Angeles, a teenage David Flores was hooked. He started DJing across Southern California on the DIY warehouse, backyard, desert, and rave circuit. His style then was as varied as the local scene - a myriad of sounds ranging from house to acid to techno to hardcore. After a few years solely DJing, he began releasing original music under the monikers David F & Audio Injection, which landed him on labels such as Monoid, Stimulus, 4 Track & LA label Droid Recordings. His association with Droid Behavior began in 2003 as resident at the now defunct yet infamous and internationally acclaimed Interface event series alongside Drumcell and Raiz. He currently runs a new event series together with Drumcell and Oktaform named “Observe”.

In early 2011, he started the project Truncate to focus on the deeper, raw side of techno. His Truncate releases early on gained critical acclaim from world class underground talent such as Modeselektor, Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Chris Liebing, Speedy J, DVS1, Luke Slater, Ben Sims, Josh Wink, Eats Everything, Joris Voorn, and many more. Since then, he has provided remixes for artists across the musical spectrum including Kink, Slam, Loco Dice, Ben Sims, Josh Wink, Ellen Alien, Miss Kittin, Carl Cox & Nicole Moudaber. He has also released original works on 50 Weapons, Ultramajic, Blueprint, Ei8ht, Figure and of course his own imprint Truncate. He has also collaborated with Jimmy Edgar, Chambray and most recently started a new project with Ben Sims as ‘Assailants’ which they’ve released on their own imprint ‘Obscurity Is Infinite’.

A rigorous international tour schedule has since followed, including stops and regular appearances at the most prestigious venues and events, including Berghain in Berlin, Fabric in London, Concrete in Paris, The Movement Festival in Detroit, Womb in Tokyo, Dimensions Festival in Croatia, Awakenings in Amsterdam, Output in New York, and many more.

With his heavy remix, production and touring schedule there is still no slowing down for David. He continues to shape an evolving sound and to champion the Los Angeles underground.
