'Endangered presents The Sky Above Us by Ra; the label debut from an emerging artist out of the Mexican electronic scene.

An upcoming talent based out of Mexico City, Raúl Contreras (Ra) is part of the new wave of artists breaking through in the Mexican electronic music scene.  His music flows effortlessly between an energetic style of progressive house and melodic techno, a natural fit for the sound of Endangered.  Upon hearing some of his demos, Brian Cid invited Ra to put together an EP, and the result is The Sky Above Us - a brilliant debut on Endangered.

The EP begins with the title track, and in true Endangered style, a sense of tension and drama is created with its cinematic breakdowns.  Many layers of synths weave in and out throughout, which adds to the vibe of this trippy opener.  Following is “Midnight Escargots”, and it brings a combination of dark & haunting synths with a pulsating techno beat.   One can visualize themselves running through a dimly lit cave with this track, and it has a groove that keeps the energy rising throughout.

The dark, but melodic techno theme continues with the 3rd track “My Ghosts”.  A deep, rumbling bass can be felt in your stomach here, and a subtle vocal during the break adds to the eeriness.  The mood is lightened slightly with the concluding “When Our Time Comes”.  The progressive and hypnotic feeling from the opener returns here with its trippy arpeggiated synths, and it signals that this chapter has now come to an end.

After a long blackout, in the quietness of quarantine, “Long way home” was the first track created out of the 8 piece album. A world we had known was forever changed, “Long way home” was a sort of recognition, a scream of longing for normality, while basking in the freedoms of a new imagined magical world.
Before the duo even had a name, long way home had already set the tone for the first album of Husa & Zeyada and became a launch to a whole new concept exploring themes of solitude, alienation and a dive into the darkest corners of our subconscious.

Single number five of 2021, called "Perception of Reality", is created by the trio of Trusted Tracks, Ito Cekaj, Rasange & Olavi. The track is built upon the idea of ones perception of the world can be very far from the truth. The track starts out with a airy and beautiful synth which then transitions into a gated vocal that gives the track a lot of atomosphere. When the drop hits, you get a bouncy groovy and these lush elements on top of it. The song then goes into a break which then leads back into the drop again but this time with a little bit more energy.

About the release
Copenhagen duo Baime released the original “The Damned” track way back in 2017, and wow for a ride it’s been for the two Danes since then! The Original track had a good run in 2017 for a number of great reasons, but this remix compilation just goes to show how evergreen a track it really is. Arude has enveloped his remix in a tense battle cry from an exotic land. His version sounds like man-made chaos with an exhilarating vigour.

If you don't like dark, melodic build-ups and perfectly composed tracks, stop reading now. Because Pete Oak is a master of exactly that and with his new EP "Between Two Worlds" he's made another masterpiece in the melodic house & techno genre.

As always, Pete produces his own music complete with vocals that the listener didn't know they needed until they heard them. He's got a knack for constructing emotions within his music that translates well in a living room setting, in-ear headphones as well as on the dance floor.

"Between Two Worlds" pulls up references from Pete Oak's own life where he has one foot in the creative music world and one in the regular world. He's exploring how the two sometimes become enemies, while at other times are able to coexist or even aid each other. The world of music provides Pete Oak with a sense of escape into the euphoria that amazing sound can create. The real world is what keeps him grounded. And thus one world can't exist without the other. The space in between is often complex, but never dull. That's what "Between Two Worlds" explores.

We are thrilled to welcome two artists we have long admired to mobilee, for a very special collaboration - Blaktone & Florian Kruse. Berlin’s Florian Kruse has been in the game a long time, releasing on Anjunadeep, Last Night On Earth, Kompakt and now (how?) for the very first time, mobilee. Similarly, Blaktone too have forged his own path through the melodic landscape, hailing from St. Petersburg, the duo have records on Bedrock and Sincopat amongst others.

Kicking off their meeting of minds, “Supernova” is a strong, deep groover, where solid sounds have their own space to shine and contribute to this fierce creation which features a unique vocal story from Joplyn that rightly so, leads the story of this track.

Next up, “Muscida” is no less powerful, but on a different tip. This time synths tell the winding tale that is sure to move the limbs of any listener.

We are gifted with 3 tracks on this stellar EP, and “The Earth Will Be Okay” closes things off as forcefully, yet subtly as the rest of the EP, which we admire not just for the uniqueness of each track, but the way in which it was built. We’re looking forward to hearing this one on a soundsystem.

Rising talent, Fat Cosmoe sprinkle Protection with some late night, early morning, deep house balearic glitter. They re-harmonize the track with a new uplifting chord progression, doubling the vocals with lush layers and pitch effects, adding a warm, rhythmic synth melody and their emotional production trademark, making this perfect for the afterparty.

Armonica’s Cosmo remix is a dark and throbbing version that takes you from the beach-driven sunset mood of the original to the dark corners of a club. The cosmic, sparkling melodies lift the track into a climactic swirl, while their Silky rework brings the funk into the mix. Wennink’s dreamy vocal is brought to the fore alongside a thumpin’ slapped bassline that drives this track through its indie dance-inspired production.
