Bristol based duo Mystic State have a beautiful new release forthcoming in the form of "The Last Lotus" The vinyl and digital release is a beautifully crafted masterpiece that showcases the duo's impeccable studio skills, with music that not only hits hard sonically, but is also beautiful to listen to.

Taking a more stripped back approach, "The Last Lotus" sees Mystic State at the top of their game. From the haunting and rich vibe of the title track, to the bassline driven party shaker of the lead single "Strike", the dub infused vibes of "Blessings" and the fully stripped back genius of "Maud's Theme"... not to mention their stellar collaboration with Jack Flynn-Oakley on "Dream Theory". The Netherlands’ finest deep bass badman Kwizma is back on DDD for his first EP release since 2020’s Monster. 

It’s been worth the five year wait, as with Macaw EP he has flown to new heights to create a collective of 140 tracks that showcase his incredible musicality, technical prowess and penchant for all things deep, dark & dangerous in devastating fashion. 

Trojan Horse and title track Macaw work in tandem as a tantalizing 1-2 punch, with both tunes creating sublime world-influenced atmospheric soundscapes, before the sub-fuelled drops do the business - both firm favourites of DDD bossmen, Truth. 

Vivere then flips the vibe to a place of meditative bliss, with dub reggae inflections, stunning chords and exquisite percussion choices - as the bird soars above the clouds - before system banger Huntsman tears down the place with its mad energy as it hurtles back down to earth. 

Macaw (Tree Top VIP) wraps things up with aplomb, dovetailing perfectly to encapsulate the full breadth of the EP’s sonics, craft and bass pressure. 

Year of the snake? Nah. Kwizma has ensured 2025 is the year of the Macaw.

Last year we embarked on a journey to the other side of the world to play some shows across Aotearoa / New Zealand. On a quiet evening in Otautahi / Christchurch, we headed to the beach with Tristan Truth, when Mike noticed a Fin Whale stuck on the sandbank, only a few hundred feet from the shore. We immediately hopped out of the vehicle and ran toward it. Coast Guard were called, and before long hundreds of onlookers had gathered to observe and pray for the majestic creature. We waited for hours, well into the night, but slowly realized that the emergency services were powerless to save the whale. 

The whale passed in the early hours of the following morning, and so we spent the next day writing a tribute to the animal and the impact the experience had on us all. 

This is “Kujira” - an ode to the whale, backed with “Parity”, another piece we wrote whilst in New Zealand. 

The hand drawn artwork, drawn entirely in dot-work by Adelaide Loake and printed at on Hahnemühle Bamboo 290gsm, is available from our store, and includes a free copy of the release. Limited to 30 copies only.

Indigo is name that has been buzzzzzing of late and when you take a listen to his music, it’s not hard to understand why.
He has released some absolute Gems on an abundance of almighty records labels that include, D-bridge’s imprint Exit Records, his own imprint Mindset and On the Edge to name a few.
“Neveah” is a deep musical journey of bass driven thought and precise production. It’s dark through to the core but extremely musical.
All in all a very well made recording.

Defy Records and Truth today release the first installment of Truth's “Love's Shadow” Album. The entire album is being released for free, split between a sampler (already released) and two EPs.

This is Truth's second full-length album and features collaborations with some of the Dubstep scenes biggest artists such as Datsik and Kromestar. Further down the track will be a remix album containing work from J:Kenzo, Riskotheque, Marchmellow, Vicious Circle, Biome, Seven, Megalodon, Perverse, Von D, DJ Madd and Optimus Gryme among others.

The pedigree of Truth's releases to date speaks for itself. Among the tsunami of music unleashed on the Dubstep world by this duo from New Zealand (which includes appearing on 24 vinyl singles in the past 3 years) are three vinyl releases on Mala's foundational Deep Medi label, a recent 12” on the mighty Tempa Records and a debut album (Puppets) which has gone on to become a classic since it's release in 2010.

Truth are currently on a 6 week release tour which covers the Outlook and Burning Man festivals, a 20 date Europe tour, a New Zealand tour and multiple USA bookings.
