Baby Alpaca - Rainbow Fields (Night Plane Remix)

Future Classic’s newest addition is four-piece Scenic from Perth, Australia – home of Tame Impala, Canyons and a wealth of young musical talent.

Scenic create enchanting dance music rooted in pop. Their sound is an abstract journey of drifting, floating, dreaming and falling in love.

They were quickly spotted by “The Godfather of French Electro” Joakim who released their first single This Can’t Be on his Tigersushi label out of Paris.

“I unabashedly love pop music,” explains Fine Times singer Matthew Moldowan. “I couldn’t consider doing anything else.”

This, in a nutshell, explains the Vancouver duo’s reason for being. Longtime friends Moldowan and bassist Jeffrey Josiah Powell have been striving to achieve pop perfection since founding Fine Times in 2010. Their self-titled album came out on Light Organ Records in 2012, charting nationally on !earshot’s campus radio charts and earning nominations at the 2013 Indie Awards and the 2013 Western Canadian Music Awards.

Now, Fine Times has upped its game with a hook-filled batch of songs recorded with The Zolas' Tom Dobrzanski at his Monarch Studios. With mixing by Dave Bascombe (Charli XCX, Depeche Mode), the songs blend ebullient melodies with an undercurrent of lyrical darkness, seamlessly incorporating synth-spiked new wave, bass-blasted industrial pop and bubbly dance-rock.

“We really wanted to get the songs as short as possible,” Moldowan says. “Those are the kind of pop songs that I like. Get in, get out.”

Bad::Better

The new single 'Ghost with You' from MTYT ahead of their 2016 debut album release.

My Tribe Your Tribe have just released their third single of 2015, "Ghost With You". The band have enjoyed an exciting year so far with the release of their upbeat electro track, 'Will to Survive', bringing invitations to a number of summer festival appearances including (Electric Picnic's Body and Soul Mainstage, Body and Soul Festival, Valentia Isle, Spirit of Folk, Secret Village Festival and Canalaphonic Festival)

Ghost With You displays MTYT'S fusion of garage-fuelled, anthemic psychedelia, blurring divisions between pop song structure and Alt-Rock styles, through a barrage of electro-synths, cascading drum dynamics and the near-death suggestions of lyrics: 'Your father spoke of slower rain, above body, before grave.'  

Ghost With You is a taste of the unique eclecticism of MTYT's output, showing a band that is 'on the cusp of releasing something special' with a forthcoming debut album due for release in 2016.

MTYT will also release a self-produced official video for this track on 6th October, showing recent clips from their studio time and festivals appearances.

Venera 4 - Masked Dance

Some people are just too talented for their own good. Photographer ​Eleanor Hardwick is one of these people. As well as shooting beautiful images for the likes of Rookie, Purple and yours truly, she makes ethereal electronic music with her BFF, Beau Hulse. As their friends, the Anglo-Icelandic ​Dream Wife, so perfectly put it, ​@MoonbowMusic are “a mystical experimental electro duo” who do things like ​cover songs from the Twin Peaks OST and shoot ​spacey music videos for themselves. Having released their debut EP ​Chiaroscuro in 2015 before impressing musos of Europe with their live tour (we caught them at Iceland Airwaves back in November and fell hard) they’re back with a second release, part of which we’re pleased to present to you today. Taken from their forthcoming Before Afterthoughts EP, Lethe is a gently distorted creation that, in all honesty, wouldn’t sound out of place on ​Grimes’ Art Angels.

Young Empires- We Don't Sleep Tonight (ColeCo Remix)

A taster of from a new band we signed outta Chicago.

One of the most understated and intimate albums we’ve heard this year with a lovely and simple story behind it… Dexter from the band explains:

“I got laid off from my job at the end of last year and decided I needed a change. My girlfriend put in her two weeks and we moved out to a little cabin in Papaikou, Hawaii. It’s a pretty remote place outside of Hilo (i.e no plumbing/electricity/gas). We worked for meals during the day cultivating microorganisms and learning the basics of sustainable living. We drank showered and cooked with rain water. In our downtime, she would paint and I would record. We’d have to light candles in an effort to save solar power to keep my computer running. We inspired each other a lot out there, and I think it shows on the album. The music comes from a place of love and ease.

The video for Endless Spring was shot there in our spare time, and the music was sketched out loosely over the course of a few months. We just kind of melted into one person. We were able to keep our heads above water for a few months before we both went broke and moved back to Chicago. I put together all the arrangements and field recordings, and that became All Night.

The album was pressed to vinyl on a vintage Neumann cutting lathe and then sent through a series of old analog mastering equipment. It then underwent a digital transfer. The idea is that everyone can hear the very first pressing of All Night. It’s a sonically intimate record and we wanted to capture that feeling in the production as well.” – Houses

Houses ‘All Night’ will be released in Australia & NZ on Future Classic on 18 November in our hand made CD packaging.

'It's Not Over' is the lastest single from Future Classic's newest signing, Panama. It was recorded in Los Angeles with super producer, Eric Broucek of DFA Records fame (Holy Ghost, LCD Soundsystem).

Steeped in splashes of yacht rock, hopeful house music and an avid appreciation for the ʻ80s, Panama make music that is as brimming with a quiet, golden nostalgia as it is bright and anthemic in its delivery.
