After the big success of our first EDIT SERIES with German chief DELFONIC, Nómada Records feels like doing a new edit series in order to keep paying a homage to the roots of HOUSE MUSIC. Nómada Records joins forces again with Marcus Lindner a.k.a DELFONIC to present DELFONIC EDITS Pt. II where genres such as Disco, Afro, Funk, and Boogie are the strong dish. As we know DELFONIC has created and managed plenty of labels and released music on well known labels such as Money $ex Records, Oye Records and Toy Tonics.


DELFONIC EDITS is a four track EP which opens with “Don’t Stop Dancing” a 70’s fresh dance track with a infectious pecussion, strong strings, warm synths and powerful vocals followed by “Into The Stars” a brazilian bombshell where boogie and funk match perfectly. Perfect track for chilin and start the night. The B-Side is a homage to afro funk and dance scene “Let The Music Take Control” a 70’s eclectic dance turned into an infectious deep mood dj that will make you dance all night long. and last but no least the release close with “Into The Galaxy” it’s an edit of one of the funkiest track ever made by rare disco rock band “WAR”.

In-demand, groove-fuelled producer Opolopo and 24 Carat singer-songwriter Angela Johnson introduce brand new single Buffalo on Reel People Music, the second single to precede their eagerly awaited album Best of Both Worlds due later this year. 

Best of Both Worlds is simply feel-good music that’ll ‘make you want to dance…move… maybe love on somebody’. Buffalo is an immediate proof point, infectious percussion and scat play chopping between deep down synth-bass and cosmic jazz-funk solos (courtesy of Reel People Music label cohort, Kaidi Tatham) before firing euphorically into full-on 4-4 groove.

Stockholm-based DJ-producer Opolopo (real name Peter Major) can boast two decades’ worth of productions right across the soulful dancefloor spectrum for labels such as Local Talk, Z Records and Defected. His remix discography includes Gregory Porter, Jungle, Leroy Burgess and Mother’s Favorite Child. NYC native Angela Johnson was a member of acid jazz group Cooly’s Hot Box before enjoying solo success via a string of acclaimed R&B albums including They Don’t Know, It’s Personal and Naturally Me. During the Noughties, Johnson featured on Reel People singles Can’t Stop, In The Sun and You Used To Hold Me So Tight.

Buffalo is another slam dunk for two exceptional artists with much more to come. It’s also a continuation of Reel People Music’s incredible discographic run. Borne out of the success of acclaimed collective Reel People in 2009, the label has built a fiercely loyal international fanbase through its passion for artist development, musicianship, song-craft and soulful groove.

Scott Diaz has a sizeable discography to his name, so it's little surprise that his latest expansive EP for Grand Plans is a mature and superbly produced affair. Check, for example, the grown-up feel of opener "Mistreated", where heart-aching soulful house vocal samples ride a backing track full of jazz-flecked drums, twinkling music box melodies and yearning chords. The same sort of praise could be heaped onto the languid electric pianos, bumping beats and half spoken, half sung vocals of "Take It Back" (where vocalist KE urges us all to focus on the music, rather than the technology DJs now use), as well as the sample-heavy smoothness of "I Sold My Soul". In other words, it's a luscious EP for those who like their house deep and soulful.

5 Mag Chicago Review:

Scott Diaz is putting his music where his mouth is. Never shy on the topic of a House track's disposability.... you may be tempted to accuse him of being part of the problem. You would be wrong. He is one of today's most prolific producers and remixers, but he doesn't really know how to make a bad record and that counts for something. Yet somehow it's not even close to good enough for him. The push to do even better, to make records that stand the test of time is essentially the mission statement for his label Grand Plans. So far things are going according to said plans.

The Paradox of Principles is the third take-your-pick-of-the-litter, fabulous batch of jazz- and soul- infused Deep House. If you need a good early track that still turns a few heads, this is where you want to look. "Mistreated" in particular exemplifies Scott's thoughtful nature through the music itself, whereas "I Sold My Soul" and "Take it Back" do it more through the use of vocal samples. The latter features another thoughtful producer, KE aka Kid Enigma, with a nice cooler vibe in comparison to his original take. Studioheist get the honor of being the first remixers featured on Grand Plans and their work here is exceptional.
