Spring

The dark: the recent passing of friend Paul Schreiber, owner of Synthesis Technology. Along with fellow rocket scientists Eric Brombaugh and Robert Rich, he engineered the E370 Quad Morphing VCO which I use everyday. He was a true genius, a snarky story-teller, a good hearted guy. I felt honored just to know him, occasionally helping with some demos and testing on various modules.

Dirt tour (2025)

This sketch is based on some field recordings that I made during a recent hike. Noisy frogs make up the bulk of the track with some poorly played, heavily processed glockenspiel featured as well. This was a bit of a quick, "improv" arrangement and this is essentially the first take of the arrangement with some very light EQ and volume adjustments but little else beyond my initial layers. I like the immediacy of it, and it certainly captures the feel of my walk. I will probably revisit it at some point, but until then, enjoy.

Field Recording Drone Sketch 5/20/17

OK This is a long one, but is quite dynamic.  It starts with a self generating ambient sound from Arturia's Pigments 2.  It then goes into a chill kind of jam with Taurus Pedals providing the low bass drone, the Korg Kronos providing the the electric piano sound and I played the Novation Summit for the lead.  This lead was improvised in one take.  It then goes back to full ambient where it fades from the Pigments self generating patch into a different self generating patch on the Hydrasynth.  It then kicks it up a notch with a nice long synth solo on the Moog Subsequent 37.  It ends with the Hydrasynth fading back into the Pigments patch.

Huge credit goes to Red Means Recording whose tutorial for creating self generating patches inspired this tune.  The Hydrasynth patch is based on his tutorial.
