Less than half way through this track, it penetrated me to the core, & I actually got goosebumps from my back on down to my knees, I never ever had a piece of music effect me  like this! I'm delighted by the enchanting mood that seized my inner being. I am stunned, really, that it connected with me like that! You definitely clinched the profound artistry at provoking emotions...Please never stop creating! You're wonderful!

I love this piece!!!! Where did you get the idea to create it from? This reminds me of the movie: The Ghost and Mrs. Muir! Oddly enough due to your description below, I don't find it as sad as I find it extremely comforting! In re of the art cover: Do you love to paint, too, Jonathan, or have you ever partaken in doing such?  May I ask what or who influenced you to take interest in the arts or was it because you've lived close to museums, or did your fascination stem from an elective option in one of your college classes or? The breathing, as though you are looking over your shoulder expecting something to catch up to you. This would be a wonderful soundtrack for something mysterious. 

And the piano comes in. This really is wonderful. You must have enjoyed creating it.

Lucency (Quiet Version)

Quintet: Zugth II

I broke a leg bone (femur) in May of 2022. I wrote the song as I lay in a hospital bed and sedated with a mild dose of morphine. About a week after the operation, a physio nurse had come into my room to go over some exercises. To be honest, she was quite pretty and she seemed a bit suggestive with respect to "if I would be up for some exercise".  Probably just the morphine but it got the lyrical part of my brain turning and from that came most of the verses.  I managed to type them into an email on my phone and send it to myself. I had to make some alterations but this is gave me a solid start.  The music came later, as did the final changes to the verses. The outro just came as an inspiration during the recording.  It might have sounded better if I had done the 3 parts about a dozen times but I left it the way it was on the first takes. 

There were a lot of small events which gave the final direction to this song, including an interesting road sign just south of High River, AB.

Relax. You’re going to be all right. I know this piece is made of sorrow. It’s longer than usual. Think that my daughters liked the original, faster version, feeling like and actually dancing on it. A lovely moment for a piece born out of sadness. The title is a reference to Stig Dagerman's book. The illustration, closest to what I was looking for, is a detail from a painting by Engène Boudin.
