TUNKSTEN

Trio sonique formé début 2014 par Julie Semoroz (voix, machines), Christophe Calpini (batterie, pads) et Antoine Guenot (basse,guitare), TUNKSTEN fait le grand écart entre la pop et l'expérimental. Ces trois suisses romands façonnent leur univers à grands coups de beats industriels, de nappes fantomatiques et de voix hypnotiques. Une musique qui prend de la hauteur et toute son ampleur sur scène, où le groupe s'aventure dans de longues séquences improvisées.

Julie Semoroz

Julie Semoroz is a French Swiss artist whose artistic practice explores the intersections between art and science. Her interdisciplinary approach is characterised by a deep commitment to the physical properties of sound and its relationship with the human body and the environment. She creates immersive sound installations and experimental performances that aim to transform our perception of space and time through the use of sound. She creates unique sound experiences that invite audiences to reflect on their place as human beings in the world. 

Her work is based on the latest research in biology, neuroscience, philosophy and the social sciences, in fields as diverse as emotional and animal vocalisations, interoception, neuronal synchronisation, interspecies communication and resonance. At the heart of he practice the desire to show, feel, hear and experience the incredible web of connections that make up and shape our relationship with the world. This is how she shares her reflective stance, the aim of which is to bring to light the light and shade that determine and shape the lives we lead in relation to others, both human and non-human.

She experiments with noise, experimental and ambient sound forms. Voice and field recordings are central elements of her research. She creates multiple, heterogeneous projects, whether in solo or through collaborations and with collectives in art spaces, theatres or in the public space. She develops performances involving visual art, sound, dance performance art and installation.
