Anmol has been in the Indian music scene over the past decade starting his journey as a guitarist for the prog metal band Oak Island touring and playing at some of the most recognised live venues across India.

Since 2019, Anmol has been producing music and DJing under his electronic artist alias XS, which is a wordplay on 'excess,' reflecting the intensity of his music, and it also alludes to his smaller, unsuspecting stature. 

In 2021, XS released a breaks/electro EP titled 'Freshly Obscure' and contributed a high-intensity jungle track to Antariksh Record's various artists compilation 'From The River To The Sea,' a project supporting relief efforts for the war in Gaza and has an upcoming split EP with Safar & Antariksh Records.

As a DJ, XS made his international debut in Vietnam playing at Mirage in Hanoi and The Villa in Saigon. He has locally played across India and supported international acts such as Doctor Jeep, Taso, Salome, Spikey T among many more.

Distropical, the Milan-based duo of producers and DJs Stefano Greco and Govind Singh Khurana, returns with a new single that deepens their exploration of electronic music fused with global sounds, particularly through field recordings, while incorporating fresh new elements.

"Independent Cricket League" is the second single in the Indian series, following "Agartala," but this time no trips or rare record samples were needed.
The sonic research starts in their own city, during a cricket tournament played in a suburban park by Sri Lankan immigrant communities, on an improvised yet perfectly self-organized field, complete with a speaker passionately narrating the match, similar to professional radio or TV commentators. The commentary is so intense that it provides interesting rhythmic cues, almost like a Jamaican MC in a dancehall.

- This is my first release, and with it, I want to share not just music, but an honest part of myself.
I didn’t follow any rules or stick to a specific genre while creating it—I simply let my thoughts, emotions, and sonic obsessions speak for themselves. Every sound here was crafted with the intention of gradually shaping what will become my sound, my identity.

This project is the first step on a path that’s just beginning. I know there’s still a lot to improve, but I also know that everything you hear here was made with passion, dedication, and a fully self-taught process.

More music will come this year, but this EP… this one is special.

No seguí reglas ni géneros al componerlo; simplemente dejé que mis pensamientos, emociones y obsesiones sonoras hablaran por sí solos. Cada sonido está con la intención de acercarme poco a poco a lo que será mi sonido, mi identidad.

Este proyecto es el primer paso de un camino que apenas comienza. Sé que hay mucho por mejorar, pero también sé que todo lo que está aquí lo hice con pasión, con dedicación y desde un aprendizaje completamente autónomo.

Este año vendrá más música, pero este EP... este es especial.
