SoHaSo gives you five goodies from the Lowlands, to celebrate summer. Something old, something new, something for everyone.

First up is the b-side to the house classic everyone in the Benelux knows: Mary Go Wild. The flip to to this epic club single from 1996 is a stripped down and rather moody groove affair. "It's gonna be allright", Fung-Kee sings over some melancholic strings. Indeed it did.

New material comes from label boss Nuno dos Santos, who makes us look in the mirror of the past. That time when synths like the Alpha Juno ruled the radio waves. Straight up club music for all those cats who shed a tear over classic Ame-records.

Remy Unger from Den Haag is proper old school. Besides a very skilled dj, he's also an experienced producer, with releases on Belgian labels like Global Cuts and Wonka. Westkust brings us back to those days. Sun drenched, piano-driven housemusic with a great punch and beautiful strings.

Bushwalking by Belgium collective Mayuku has a bit of a similar vibe. With it's dubby baslines and echo-ing melodies it sure unlocks the same summer feelings.

Closer “Do We Have A Cosmic Connection” by Far Out Radio Systems is a lifted from his album from 2020. The sun has gone down but the pavement in the city still radiates the heat of the day. That kinda vibe.

Ha pasado por los spots más reconocidos del underground de Córdoba, como ser Studio Theater, Club Berlin, Casa Babylon Club, Club Paraguay y Chilli Food Street.

How do you get 'in the box'? Gal Tsadok-Hai knows. After some experiments with hardware, the Amsterdam-based electronic producer recently went back to his first love: computer composing. Thus keeping open all the options.

Footsteps is his first EP for SoHaSo, filled with four tracks of adventurous, left-field explorations in rhythm and melody. cl_forwardspeed 5 is dominated by sub low baslines and razor blade rhythms, while mp_footsteps 1 nods more towards early Aphex Twin and the IDM trickery from last century.

Flip the record for max_smokepuffs 999, on which Gal Tsadok- Hai proves he can also bring a straight four-four to great heights. It is both spacious and tense, which makes for a great combination.
On closer sv_gravity 0 it's back to the days when melody was still the default in most techno and electro. If you like the abstract machine funk from Dopplereffekt, this might just be right up your alley.

Ansonica is an Italian deejay based in Berlin.

Obsessed with disco music since she was a kid, thanks
to the influence of her mother she literally grew up with
spaghetti and Italo disco.

She spent several years following closely the club scene
in Italy, working as DJ Host and PR at Ribbon Club
Culture in Central Italy until she moved to Berlin in 2015.

After a long time of being only in the “backstage” she has
decided to start playing and creating her own "colorful"
and authentic music style fully shaped by her taste and
personality mixing Hi-NRG disco with diverse house and
electronic vibes.

She has been playing in Berlin in clubs like Kitkat,
Bulbul, Klunkerkranich, Oxi, Ava Club to name a few with
Disco Bizarre and ToyTonics crews.

Her mission is making Disco glamorous and exciting
again and bring the dancers on a fresh, sweaty, fun and
always a “little bit italian” journey.

In 2019 she founded HABITAT - Experience, Embrace,
Belong - a music enthusiasts collective whose mission is
to building a space in time where people can get
together, experience musical journeys and feel like they
belong.

She is a member of female:pressure, a transnational
online database and network of women*, AFAB,
transgender, transfeminine, transmasculine, intersex
[+gender optional], genderqueer, gender nonconforming,
a-gender and/or non-binary DJs, musicians, composers,
producers, visual artists, agents, journalists and
researchers working in the realms of electronic music
and visual arts.

The festival season 2020 might be canceled, but the open air feel lives on in Levantine’s first release on Turbolenz. The Mexico City-based producer delivers an absolute dance worthy record that taps into the likes of Disco, Synthwave and House. Combining fizzy textures, sounds and rhythms, the E.P. brings the uplifting songs we need this summer. Its first track 'Metropolis’ immediately throws us onto the dance floor and takes us back to the future. ‘No romance’ drives us uptempo into a vibrant world of multichromatic sounds with contemporary House elements. ‘Burning Cosmos’ then immerses us on a dance floor in zero-gravity, rich of sounds and colors, with dreamy vocals and a full-bodied bassline. The closing is served with a remix by Ruede Hagelstein who deconstructs Levantine’s ‘Burning Cosmos’ entirely, taking it apart and putting it back together in his very own yet unexpected way. Levantine and Turbolenz joined forces for a strong and exciting release – and much more is planned. Turbolenz Records is hailing from Offenbach, a city internationally known as home of the infamous Robert Johnson club, a true gem of the German club scene. The label is run by Philipp Lenz aka Delenz from Shayde who grew up in the nearby Taunus mountains. His musical horizon reaches beyond the usual techno paths the Rhein-Main region is known for since the 80es – for him any electronic music genre is welcome, independent from daytime, location or mood.
With Turbolenz Records, Lenz has build a new musical homebase and family for ambitious but yet unknown producers, all of them invoking individual soundscapes shaped by varied musical backgrounds: Levantine from Mexico City Mexico covers disco, house, indie dance and dark Disco, Ebrahimi from Stockholm organic and melodic House. Parisian Vøsne has already made a Youtube name for himself with dub techno. Jakob Reiter from Cologne alternates betreten melodic techno and peak time open air sound. And of course there is classi- cal-educated Richard IV, one part of Shayde.
Lenz is also keen on pushing and promoting graphic designers, illustrators and artwork artists, by placing their work on the label. Turbolenz also gets huge support through his friends who appear as Remixers on his Label like Swayzak, Petar Dundov, Ruede Hagelstein, Of Norway, Kiki, Dave Dk and Sei A.
Turbolenz is curious. For soft as well as tough sounds, cheesy, playful or emotional music. May it be ambient, acid or maybe even some Egyptian Al Jeel techno (You all know what that is, right?).
