It's been ten years since Proxy's earth-rattling festival anthem "Raven" hit the dancefloors of the world. One could say this record is the prototype of modern EDM, if so we're sorry it led to the cake-throwing jesus-pose circus we know today. We didn't anticipate that part.

Here's what revered tastemaker Erol Alkan had to say about it at the time of it's release:

To celebrate this record's influence on dance music history, we originally asked a handful of main stage EDM and non-EDM producer DJ's to remix the track, but none of them had the balls to touch it. So we turned the other way and asked another generation of producers to remix it: the ones who were kids in the front row when this track was originally unleashed upon them, marked for life at the sheer power this tune could have on a fresh mind in a sweat-soaked ZZT t-shirt.

The result are modern reworks of this dancefloor classic by Turbo young guns @madamedj & @Vakkuum - exclusively available for Club Turbo members.

It's real and ethereal at the same time. It's creative expression thanks to imagination, it's ineffable, it's the only universal language of human being, it's emotion, ordered but always different, formal without form, it's mathematically organized but still the highest expression of freedom. It's art because art is never perfect. There is never perfect symmetry, absolute harmony. Harmonics, chords, the circle of fifths, the timbre. 
They all represent this magical imperfection.

MUSIC is the highest form of art because, unlike the other arts, you can't really see the object like in a paint but through notes you can imagine everything you want. More than an art is an incessant and primordial need, an obsession. Maybe the most beautiful of human obsessions.

Turbo Recordings was founded by Tiga in Montreal back in 1998. In addition to launching his own career, the label has been integral in the success of acts like Chromeo, Gesaffelstein, Duke Dumont and most recently, ANNA & Charlotte de Witte. Core talent includes ZZT (Tiga's collaboration with Zombie Nation), Jori Hulkkonen, BETON, Clouds, Harvard Bass, Pilo, Shaded, Dimitri Veimar and a host of new young producers in genres ranging from pure techno, electro, and house to pop. The list of artists who have released music on the label is a veritable 'who's who' of top-level talent spanning a broad musical range, and this, along with a commitment to beautiful design, has earned the label respect in the industry and a cult following among fans. 

“We started out singing into plastic bags and shipping them to stores as quickly as possible. Later, we discovered that vinyl sounds way better when delivered by kayak. I learned so much the first few years…Now, as I look towards the future, I can envision music for poor people, sonic odors for the hearing impaired, even MP3s for women....Vroom, sucka!” says Tiga, the lyrical lampsman lighting the way down Dance Avenue.
