Giulia Fournier-Mercadante (GiGi FM) is a multi-disciplinary artist, DJ, resident of NTS Radio, dancer and music producer. Boldly versatile, GiGi FM’s selections have charmed bodies on dancefloors all across the world, such as Berghain, Rural Japan, Draaimolen, Fabric, De School, Primavera, The Bunker New York, and Sustain Release. In the booth her genre-defying spirit is in full effect with techno, bass, breaks and ambient all coming in to play.

Deeply influenced by astrology, philosophy and the cosmos; for GiGi, music is both a tool for expression and introspection. As a multi- hyphenate artist, she continues on her quest to push artistic boundaries and hold space for unique audience experiences. Whatever medium she may adopt, the result is a rich embodiment of the interconnectedness of sound, colour, movement and metaphysics.

Recorded live as part of Bassiani’s New Year celebrations comes a very special four-hour bout from DJ talent 98dots. From Tbilisi to his chosen home of Brooklyn, Nikoloz Gedevanishvili’s sets are deeply enmeshed with his Georgian roots, slick selections that sprint across emotions and genres. He’s been on this mission since his teenage years, and played at the likes of Bassiani, Basement, The Lot and Mutant Radio (he has a show here), pushing a sound that’s highly charged with political energy and community tailored. These dog whistle rhythms are versatile and packed with layers of sound and percussion that snake along their cosmic route, spanning textbook techno, ambient and more experimental fare. Becoming a keystone in both his local Tbilisi and New York scenes, he’s kept sight of the grassroots magic while playing alongside global names like DJ Nobu, Jane Fitz, Wata Igarashi, DMX Krew and Roman Flügel. This latest instalment is an acid-tinged endurance race, four hours of rampaging techno of a distinctly 98dots stripe, rollercoaster beats of the type Nikoloz does best, marching frequencies to usher in the next half decade.

Years of simmering mutual admiration between Turbo and Architectural have finally erupted with the Asturian producer's first release on the label - Good Night, Whatever That Is.

Nothing gets us hot and bothered like the prospect of featuring a true artist on Turbo. In fact, we are so f-ing jazzed to be working with techno genius Architectural that we even dropped scrappy “fun-house” producer Archie Textures from our roster to avoid confusion.

To celebrate the new record, Architectural has sent over the live recording from a magical evening in Barcelona last year. With a few trax from the EP intermingled with his bespoke dub techno selections, its a masterful flow from start to finish. Tune in.

DJ Sodeyama’s been around since the 90s, a Tokyo-based whizz and DJ’s DJ, whose career has offered the type of sound many selectors would envy. It’s incredibly sharp, meandering along its intelligent thread in unexpected and high-minded ways. Since the early noughties he could add producer to his soubriquet too, flexing his minimal muscle with early releases, a steady stream of ensuing ventures further cementing his craft via Korean-based deep techno distributor Artscope, Dynamic Reflection, illegal alien, Daybreak and many more. He’s also explored adjacent genres and ventured into the world of house under his parallel alias The People In Fog. Pretty full plate, but the quality of his sound has suffered nothing for it. His techno is an expert tapestry of interlaced details and lingering moods, injected with raw feeling and undeniable skill. It darts from peak to peak, fusing frequencies riddled with forward-pitched elements and vivid effects, and forges a long-range feeling that abuts the realm of both man and machine. Thick and volatile techno that serves as proof that the genre can keep expanding outwards in fresh and surprising ways. Bassiani Podcast 260 moves the needle further, it's quintessential Sodeyama: vivid climbs and steep descents, warped vocal samples, brave and unbending beats for prime-time raving.

DVS1 came up as a raver in the Midwest, throwing techno parties for over 20 years and getting up to mischief, often next to huge stacks of speakers that still influence him to this day. He is now well-established as a vital DJ and resident at Berghain and Panorama Bar. 

This mix is something special and a side of DVS1 normally not heard or recorded! A true digger and passionate record collector running the eclectic Mistress Recordings and the more pure techno label HUSH. Here he crosses into house territory for a special dekmantel mix. 

Of the podcast we have here, he says, “This mix is two hours of a four hour rare “house” set recorded LIVE in Sept 2017 at an undisclosed location. I make it a point not to release many mixes and while most people know and follow me for my techno sets, this mix is for those who dig a little deeper and appreciate it all… Enjoy!" There is still a real sense of pace to the mix as it glides effortlessly though flurries of percussion into vocal numbers, cosmic curveballs and piano laced anthems. It’s a fascinating insight into a whole other side of one of techno’s foremost talents.

Turbo Recordings was founded by Tiga in Montreal back in 1998. In addition to launching his own career, the label has been integral in the success of acts like Chromeo, Gesaffelstein, Duke Dumont and most recently, ANNA & Charlotte de Witte. Core talent includes ZZT (Tiga's collaboration with Zombie Nation), Jori Hulkkonen, BETON, Clouds, Harvard Bass, Pilo, Shaded, Dimitri Veimar and a host of new young producers in genres ranging from pure techno, electro, and house to pop. “We started out singing into plastic bags and shipping them to stores as quickly as possible. Later, we discovered that vinyl sounds way better when delivered by kayak. I learned so much the first few years…Now, as I look towards the future, I can envision music for poor people, sonic odors for the hearing impaired, even MP3s for women....Vroom, sucka!” says Tiga, the lyrical lampsman lighting the way down Dance Avenue.
