I mentioned previously that [016] would be the last mix of its kind for a while. here’s why:

the heart of this mix series has been the opportunity to share tracks that I love that I might not get to play out, while painting a story arc and traversing multiple genres along the way. during the last year however, I've also found that doing so in a 90-120- minute format feels a bit too cramped — so I decided to change things up a bit.

beginning this month, I'll be focusing each mix on fewer genres. my hope is that in doing so, it'll create more space to explore and build a longer vibe that doesn't feel quite as rushed.

since I still love traversing a wider set of genres, every so often, I'll be combining handpicked favorites from the focused mixes before with new finds, and create a longer mix that will still flow and feel plenty spacious.

for now, I hope you enjoy the first in this new format. listen for deeper, progressive vibes, starting out light, and building into darker, driving basslines before finally coming up for air with a melodic finish 🐢✌🏼

turtletheory first set foot into club culture in Tokyo, spending years amidst its vibrant electronic music scene known to pack dance floors until dawn to backdrops of sunrise over the Tokyo Bay. In the years since, his travels have added influences from Europe's live electronic artistry, the dust of Burning Man, and the underground of his own San Francisco backyard.
