Solar Kings duo are rapidly making their mark with their own inimitable brand of deep house music infused with sounds from around the globe. The project is the brainchild of producers Arkatekt and Frømme, who have both been enjoying success with their respective solo projects. The two began working together after conversations online uncovered a mutual passion for sounds and percussion from different parts of the world and a desire to increasingly incorporate this into their productions. Raman had long been experimenting with ethnic percussion and sounds from India, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America in his Arkatekt project. Similarly, Juras had found that the spectrum of sounds he absorbed from the nightlife of buzzing Copenhagen increasingly found him venturing into afro house, down tempo and Amazonian sounds. Fuelled by this desire to bring in a sense of live instrumentation and organic warmth, the pair soon found themselves working together to weave in the sounds of djembe, kalimba and mbira into their revitalising take on house music. Sourcing natural foley sounds to add new textures into their soundscapes, the pair now create deep mystical grooves that feature a dizzying attention to detail and a near binaural sound experience for the listener. With field recordings collated from destinations as diverse as forests, churches and even Mexican jungles, the pair go to extra lengths to add intrigue to their sonic landscape. Creating a web of intriguing and masterfully sourced sounds, the Solar Kings transport you into a fascinating new vision of house music.
