Smartphone messaging and social apps (instant communications) are expanding faster than any other mobile app. WhatsApp has a billion plus monthly users. Facebook Messenger has the topmost active users in the US, followed by Snapchat, WhatsApp, and Google Hangouts.
Adults in the US will spend an average of 12 minutes per day using mobile messaging apps by 2019, with most of this growth coming from instant messaging as SMS usage declines. In 2019, however, it is anticipated that 3,7 billion users will send and receive 294 billion emails every day.

They are particularly harmful because they uproot dirt in massive quantities, similar to tractors ploughing a field. This has a worldwide reach, and the ramifications for carbon emissions are fairly significant across the globe. Wild pigs consume the same amount of dirt as Taiwan. Oceania is the largest CO2 emitter.

Because soil holds a substantial amount of carbon, even a small amount released into the atmosphere can have a significant effect on climate change.
