Unable to keep fighting, the MONSTERS and anyone associated with them were sealed away by a powerful spell.
The QUEEN attempted to keep peace within the kingdom…
But the monsters wanted justice for their fallen king.
One monster rose to the occasion and using the power of numbers, the monsters overthrew the QUEEN.
With a new ruler in order, the kingdom falls into chaos. 
A few years later…
MT. PLUTO
A lonely monster wanders aimlessly through the underground in exile.

NOTE: Context story explaining time! Whether Muffet is spared or killed, Onion-san swoops in to save the day and freed the SOULs while you were occupied.  
If Muffet is spared, Onion-san restrains her by wrapping her in tentacles and then reveals that he freed the SOULs while you were fighting, just like you wanted!
Before setting them free though, Onion-san decides now is the perfect time to break the barrier… before realizing there’s only 6 souls. While thinking about what to do now, the SOULs proceed to harness themselves into Onion-san.
Which isn’t good, I think.
(If Muffet is killed, the scene plays out the same except Muffet is excluded from it due to being, well, dead.)

Onion-san takes the role of Flowey. After being exiled by Queen Muffet for "being too nosy", they've gone into hiding but are secretly finding a way to obtain the SOULs and expose the Queen for the fraud she really is.

NOTE: Back when I was rewriting this take, Onion-san kinda fell by the wayside and honestly I didn't really think too much of them. So I decided to give them more of a role in the story than just "random onion" guy. :p

Chara takes the role of Mad Dummy. They're a Rogue that follows Asriel around as an apprentice of sorts. They can't use magic or spells, so they scavenge any weapon they can get their hands on. They have a secret hideout where they hide all their stolen goods... that Toriel can find if she's nosy enough. Unfortunately, Chara takes great offense to that and starts a fight.
