New sample library fuses electroacoustic and designed sound effects

San Francisco, October 8th, 2013 - Twisted Tools has released METAMORPH, a vast collection of electroacoustic and designed sounds, developed by Italian sound artists BJM Mario Bajardi and Komplex (Iter-Research). METAMORPH takes heavily processed violins, pianos and acoustic instruments and morphs them into impacts, sci-fi atmospheres, user interface elements and beyond. The library features over 2.1 gigabytes of 24bit/96khz audio, embedded with Soundminer ready metadata to easily facilitate the discovery of new sounds for your next music or game production. Whether you’re a sound designer looking for alien textures or an electronic musician seeking out unusual timbres, METAMORPH features something for you. 

METAMORPH comes with presets for most popular sampler formats and is available at the Twisted Tools shop for just $69. The package comes with sampler presets for the EXS24MKII, Kontakt, Battery, Maschine and Reaktor. Included in the package is the all-new MP16d sampler for *Reaktor, equipped with a Lemur Template by Antonio Blanca.

BJM Mario Bajardi is an Italian electroacoustic composer and sound designer, who is currently a lecturer at the Academy Art, at the University of Palermo in Italy.

Komplex is Paolo Bigazzi Alderigi, multimedia artist and owner of Iter-Research music publishing. Paolo is a lecturer at SAE in Milan, Italy.

Patch Notes:

This was a patch experiment using the new Mutable Instruments Rings/Clouds Modules, and trying to create strumming/plucking guitar like sounds within a patch. The inspiration came from playing around with the Clouds Parasites 1.3 alternate firmware running in the Resonator mode highlighting the "scatter" (or strum) function. The master clock was the Tiptop Circadian Rhythms module, taking the first 4 outputs into my Nord Drum 2 for the Kick, snare, closed and open hi-hats. From there the clock output from the CR was multiplied and then sent to the Modcan Touch Sequencer. First row output from the TS was sent to the intellijel Shapeshifter creating a two note baseline sequence that comes in at 1:58. The second sequence Row2 output from the TS was sent to the "ALM Akemie's Castle" module OSC A output using the chord function, that comes in at 25 seconds. The gates from the modcan where set to a 16th's pulse sequence. Modulation from the synthesis technology E102 Quad Temporal Shifter output 1 modulating the Multiplier input on Operator 1. The 2, 3 and 4 outputs from the E102 where also modulating the Operator 2, 3, and 4 inputs on the Akemie's Castle. This was creating the harmonic timbre changing as the sequence was playing.

The slowly evolving sweeping noise textures that come in at 1:09 is from the Music Thing Radio Music module. The sample was a white noise sampled lightly filtered and then sent to the intellijel HexVCA with the amplitude CV control via a Intellijel Dixie modulating from slow to high rates (free running). The Make Noise Rene was being externally clocked from the Circadian Rhythm, and was sending out a quantized output to the Mutable Instruments Clouds pitch input creating the chord guitar sequence. The strum sounds on Clouds was played by the 4ms QCD running in 32th division output into the Trigger input. The freeze input was also triggered by a Ladik R-110 Random clock module. The combination of the two created the trill chord like strums.

The bass guitar tone sound that comes in at 1:24 are from the MakeNoise Mysteron, that is being sequenced by the Modcan Touch Sequencer, Row Output 3 was programmed in the same key but a lower octave. The "Rings" module was creating slow attack soft high pitched chords in reverb that come around 2:50. There was additional processing of the Clouds output that was sent into the Tiptop ZDSP module running the "Halls of Vahalla" card program 8 "Ginnungagap" creating the high pitch octave deep reverb shimmer effects. The harmonic slow swells that come in at 3:30 where created using another intellijel Dixie oscillator sine output running into an Strymon "Big Sky" pedal being harmonically controlled by an intellijel µScale V1. The output was being played slowly then processed using the "Choral" mode, creating the slow shimmer swells. The entire mix was sent into the Eventide Space pedal using the "Corridors" patch.

Strum - Modular Patch

This is my story at Fusion. I had the honour to open the Sonnedeck stage on Friday 2 PM. 
The first part is a tribute, my ceremony for Bas Engels, founder of Shoeless Festival. Bas recently passed away during an motorcycle accident.
This vibe we created together at Sonnedeck was about the love connection with each other, with the earth and the universe. This feeling was so strong! I want to thank you, Fusion and @3000-grad for giving me this opportunity to play my 3 hour story. LOVE!

The third edition of Microfunk Music’s coveted ‘Lost Dubs’ series is finally here. Featuring 10 rhythmic glitch patterns from the Russian labels usual suspects, you can expect compositions from Synkro, Oak, Hybris, Akuratyde, Dissident, Kharm, Jason oS and of course label boss Bop. The record will be available on all digital and streaming platforms after a week-long exclusive on Bandcamp and will be pressed to a limited run of 100 cassette tapes, which will not last long. With distinguished artwork courtesy of none other than the infamous Trickartt, this is truly a collectors item and not to be missed.

Many things slip through the sands of time, but thankfully these beautiful songs will know no such fate. The introductory ‘Time’ from Manchester's Synkro is laden with a hopeful sadness, as melancholic sonics reverberate beautifully from start to finish. You could be forgiven for thinking this may set the tone for the LP to come, but what follows is a compendium of beautifully crafted musical delights, as varied in character and constitution as the seasons themselves.

A frequent partner of Bop as both a performer and artist, Oak graces the imprint once more with a deep electro cut ‘The Bay’ and tells a down-tempo tale in ‘Airwalk’, which is available to download upon pre-ordering the full LP. Rampant in it’s sheer textural beauty, the likes of Elsewhere follow suit with an expansive and heart-fluttering take on the 170BPM tempo in the form of ‘Procession’. Things take a techy turn as Jason oS delivers an introspective stepper in his ‘Hidden State’, but not before Akuratyde and Kharm weave their own atmospheric wonder ‘Enamoured’.

Although never fearful of pushing the boundaries or confinements within the D&B universe, Microfunk Music remains true to the genre that inspired it with the likes of Hybris injecting his trademark sonics into a sublimely styled technoid roller. Abstract Elements keep things stepping in a similar vein with ‘Throb’, whilst St. Petersburg's very own Dissident enthralls the listener with their hypnotic addition ‘Bathyscaphe’.

Bop has the honour of bowing out the stunning album with a dub-techno pattern ‘In My Dreams’ that traverses the expansive audible palette that so often engulfs Microfunk Music.
