The crowd gathered to observe the terrain. Very soon bikers from all across the world would fly down these cliffs at lightening speed, it was no simple feat. The music blared ecstatically in the daylight glow. Great speakers stood perched overlooking the descent, designed to motivate and inspire. As the names of each rider rang out there was one whom had not nominated himself as present. He was an unknown outsider, untitled and unafraid. The race was on.

@hokkaido-dance-club: A label not a disco on a north Japanese island, is helmed by Jordan Saxton (aka @Viers & @leekonitz) and Joe Sagar  - two pals from Leeds with a dirty habit of unearthing a gem. HDC have been somewhat quiet of late. Their most recent release being early 2017 from label honcho Viers; a sumptuous offering which left HDC fans all Oliver Twist - begging for more of that tasty metaphorical audio gruel. If you don't have a bowl yet - get one.

When we first heard this - it's safe to say we were a little surprised (pleasantly of course). Part of HDC's legacy has been their contributions towards the dance floor - four/four lead post 12am heaters. Medrea's (https://soundcloud.com/medreadj) 'Untitled' and this features Premiere kicks the record off as it means to go on - maintaining Hokkaido's gritty aesthetic with about as much saturation as the fat content in the porkiest of pies, yet veering (no pun intended) away from the hallmark stonk. Broken beats combining and interacting with etheral strokes and mechanistic hues throughout make for an immersive and entrancing listening experience. In more simple terms - imagine PS1's Duke Nukem gliding his pixely fingers across a Roland D-50 as part of a dystopian future-soul band. Still not with us? Just listen - s'good.

The twelfth release of the Apparel’s limited catalogue is a brand new 4 tracks EP called “Signals” by the Mancunian featuring a 4-hands collaboration with @harrywolfman and a remix by @jad-lee. Every single track has been chosen carefully since the beginning of the project to make this record a representative work of the artist who perfectly blends his musical knowledge with the label’s imprint. Side B begins with the whimsical chords of “It’s Not So Cold In Tromso” where the artist takes the listener to a brief and intense trip to see the Norwegian northern lights; the track is made by a strong rhythm section and flighty, far-out, harmonies which really evoke Scandinavian landscapes.
