Cryptic is one of the freshest Techno acts coming out of Cape Town. By morphing the pure sound of Techno with his own psychedelic touch, he has brought a new and unique sound into the Techno world. He brings a dark, underground sound with a touch of his own musical craziness.
After playing at festivals such as Sunflower Music Festival and MixedFeelings, he has proven that he is someone to look out for in the near future.

Malik’s sound is all about playful grooves blended with a fusion of exhilarating melodies and unexpected twists, capturing the essence of his day-to-day emotions.

“When I am crafting new music I believe I am subconsciously guided by these three conventions during the process:

a. has to be genuine - I craft exactly as I feel at all times.
b. has to be peculiar - feels different from what is considered the norm.
c. has to be whimsical - both the sound and the process feels very playful and fun.” - Malik Faquir

When it comes to Malik’s performances he also follows the above conventions - this means that as long as a track exudes genuineness, peculiarity, and whimsical charm, it finds its rightful place among his music collection and eventually his sets. Malik’s playlists are curated based on the authenticity and distinctiveness of each track and it doesn't matter if it falls under different sub-genres of house music or if it carries a different bpm.
