Wind-up Entertainment, one of the largest independently-owned music companies, was founded in 1997. The company was responsible for establishing and breaking many multi-platinum and diamond artists over the years. Wind-up Records continues to develop and build a great young roster of alternative artists, such as Civil Twilight, The Virginmarys, Young Guns, The Griswolds, Strange Talk and The Revivalists. The roster also includes amazing singer-songwriters Five for Fighting, Jillette Johnson and Genevieve. Two Bears North fearlessly expresses the relentless battle between darkness and light. The trio is fronted by Sophie Heppell and Melissa Walker who embody this contrast—a musical collision of yin and yang.  With Heppell’s melodic sense, Walker’s incomparable groove, and the addition of Allyson MacIvor on drums, the band is unstoppable.

Their debut album, Comeocean, earned “best album” accolades from gigcity.ca.  They also won the “People’s Choice” category at the Edmonton Music Awards in 2014, as well as receiving five other nominations including “Album Of The Year.”  In October 2014, the band signed with German label DevilDuck Records and re-released Comeocean, with three supporting German tours in May, September, and December 2015.  The re-release includes the bonus Euro-Edition track “Get The Hell Out Of Here.”  This track is a favourite among commercial and college radio stations throughout Canada and Germany. Notable performances include: Reeperbahn Festival, Breakout West, Vancouver Pride Festival,  Edmonton Pride Festival, Canadian Music Week, and SXSW. 

Two Bears North’s second full length LP, Let The Air Clear, will be released in April 2017 on DevilDuck Records.  Produced by Howard Redekopp (Tegan & Sara, Mother Mother, The New Pornographers), the new album is intensely intimate, displaying an urgency for change, a  strength of independence, and a command over their unique blend of disarming pop/rock—a signature sound they are proud of.
