My real name is Shane Willard and I started playing guitar in 1992 when I was 13 years old.  I got a piece of shit guitar, learned a few chords and started a band.  

I grew up in Kirkland Lake Ontario Canada in the midst of a youth driven DIY punk scene in the mid-late 90s. Kids made bands, put on their own shows, recorded their own albums and put them out for other kids to hear.  A group of kids made a school club called the Imperial Order of Low Budget which was used to allow the local bands, who attended the school, to rent halls and use the school's equipment to put on shows.  The money made from the shows was used to buy recording time for local bands at a small local home studio.  I was never part of the club but my life was significantly affected by the butterfly effect it created

We met kids from nearby towns who were putting on their own shows and the scene grew through melding with other local scenes.  Bands traveled to play shows in their towns and the other bands came to play in Kirkland Lake.  It was a great way to grow up.  

On this page you’ll find music that I’ve recorded with the bands I’ve been in during my youth up to my most recent home recordings.  You won’t find pro recordings, pitch perfect singing, or pop hits here.  I came from a DIY punk rock scene in the mid 90s so a good chunk this stuff is recorded using a 4 track cassette recorder.  What you will find is music made by my friends and I that was created purely for the passion of making music at a time when the music was all that mattered.  In adulthood I haven't played or recorded much but did record some music with a friend in university and have done a few acoustic songs and they're here too. 

I'm not claiming to have written everything here.  Basically, if I sing it I wrote it at least primarily. (except Social Oppression - that's a Subverts cover)  Some will have co-writers.  I'll try to have accurate credits in the song descriptions.   I'm working on it.  For other's songs, I will remove tracks if the songwriter requests (you all know me well enough to know how to contact me)

2. If I repost something it's either:
1)  a related artist (as in it follows the lineage of one of the bands on here) 
2) a song by a band I was in but didn't play on 
3) a cover of one of the bands I've posted
