He'd always found escape inside his own head, he'd dream up strange worlds and unrealistic situations that stimulated him far more than reality and daily life ever could. Perhaps he'd be better off there, creating his own perfect world full of the things that brought him joy and happiness and ridding it of the things that brought him down. 

Electric Shapes continue their busy schedule with an EP from Auren, a new addition to their ever-growing roster. Aptly named Electrically Shaped, the release is made up of four tracks that could soundtrack dark nights at the club or huge grandiose spaces. Its cinematic and atmospheric, matching rumbling bass lines and breakbeat rhythms with chopped and screwed vocal samples.

Jumbo Scrimp

So this year for Christmas I struck a pretty rad deal with my Dad - get me this little Yamaha synth (the CS Reface) I had been eyeing up at the music store, and in return I would write him a song specifically for his morning running playlist using only the synth for anything aside from the drums. My Dad is the kinda guy who would rather have a personal/creative gift and has always been a huge supporter of creativity and art in the family. His only note to me was that 'Back in Black' by AC/DC was his favorite song to run to because it was the right tempo. So naturally I sampled the drums from Back In Black, grabbed some adlib samples from his favorite movie 'Caddy Shack' and sampled the shit out of this little synth that looks like it might as well be your first casio keyboard in kindergarten, but actually makes some of the wildest sounds I've stumbled upon as of recently.

So everything you hear in this tune aside from the drums is derived from that one synthesizer. Thanks to my Dad for always keeping me inspired & motivated to create.
