As its name implies, it is based on the polka genre, which originated as a type of dance music in the mid-19th century in Bohemia (now part of the Czech Republic), and has become well-known across the world.

"K.K. Slack-Key" is a K.K. Slider song in Animal Crossing: New Horizons introduced in the 2.0 Free Update. It is based on the Hawai'ian genre of slack-key guitar, also known as kī hō'alu. The genre originates from the late 19th century, when the Spanish guitar was introduced to the Hawai'ian people, and they developed a unique style of finger-picking with open tuning.

"K.K. Chorinho" is a K.K. Slider song in Animal Crossing: New Horizons introduced in the 2.0 Free Update. It is based on the choro genre, also commonly referred to as chorinho, which was a form of Brazilian music that originated in the late 19th century and remained popular through the early 20th century. The composition specifically resembles "Tico-Tico no Fubá", a classic choro song which was written in 1917 and has been covered numerous times.

"Chillwave" is a K.K. Slider song in Animal Crossing: New Horizons introduced in the 2.0 Free Update. The song takes its name from chillwave, a microgenre of electronic music that emerged in the late 2000s, characterized by its lo-fi, psychedelic atmosphere and emphasis on reverb and "retro" synthesizers. It is notably one of the first genres to originate mostly through the internet.

"K.K. Bashment" is a K.K. Slider song in Animal Crossing: New Horizons introduced in the 2.0 Free Update. Bashment is another name for the dancehall genre, which originated in Jamaica in the late 1970s as an evolution of more traditional reggae, using electronic instrumentation and loops. The aircheck is based more upon dancehall pop, which combines the established dancehall sound with more mainstream western pop sensibilities.

- We love Totaka!
- We worked on this remix in between projects for a year.
- When we lived in separate countries, we played Animal Crossing: New Leaf together all the time, and went to K.K. Slider concerts on Saturdays. We requested "K.K. Cruisin'" every time.
- We started this remix in an attempt to answer the question, "Why is K.K. Cruisin' so great?" After listening to it and studying it, we determined that, for us, the heart of the song was its groove. The same five chords repeat throughout the entire song (five extremely creative chords--Mr. Totaka is always a step ahead of us all), and it never changes in rhythm or energy level. We used that concept as the main inspiration for our arrangement, where instead of ramping up the energy for the chorus like we'd normally do, we pulled back and settled into a comfortable groove. Keeping "still" was a big exercise in confidence for both of us.
- We named our remix after the road trips we'd take together down I-5, between San Francisco and LA. Those trips felt like mini-vacations for us (though we still worked on the road and in our hotel room) and making this song has been a mini-vacation for us, too.
