And that's what Marcel Sterling alias Marc DePulse wants to tell us with his releases and podcasts: there is no box into which you must fit in because you are free in your mind to do whatever you love. Being real, being authentic, being a full time music lover. That means: go to bed and wake up with only music in your head. Whoever shed some tears while listening to emotional music can relate to what Marc is trying to achieve. It has to be music to remember and make a big impact. And that could be a melody, a baseline, steady percussion or strong vocals. Marc has already connected a lot of that love with his music. In more than a decade represented by the strongest labels (150+ releases) and performing on the biggest international stages, Marc has established as a unique producer and DJ. In 2014 he released his first single "No need to worry" on Noir Music. Another feature with the amazing Hollis P Monroe & Overnite has been released on Heinz Music. The single called "Dirty Deep DePulse" is a perfect name to describe Marcs sound. This year the shuffle machine continues with remixes on Noir Music, Katermukke, Traum Schallplatten, Heinz and single releases on Tulipa and Einmusika Recordings. According to these productions Marc started a brand new blog and podcast series called "How I Met The Bass".

DJ Mix #387: Marc DePulse

Lately i have been buying a lot of vinyl, going through my thousands of old vinyl digging out good old stuff and just nerding it big time.
I love that the vinyl market kinda has its own sound that doesn't trend with what's happening at the charts on Beatport, iTunes, Spotify and whatever.
I love that you can actually get a lot of stuff on vinyl that is not available in the digital market and therefore get a chance to play music you know that not many djs actually play or even know exists.
I had a Friday night off. No gigs and no family or friend affairs to attend to. Its been a long time since i had a Friday night home and it didn't take long before the itch to play music was too big and i had to do something about it......
So..... I decided to record this vinyl set of some of the vinyls i bought in 2015 so far. This set probably represents a deeper shade of Noir than you are use to from the clubs where i most of the time play prime-time sets. But.......
I honestly love this sound and this set represents the kind of vinyl i always end up buying for my own personal pleasure and collection rather than thinking it has to be new floor fillers for the clubs around the globe.
This is just good music..... so here you go...... That's how i spent my Friday night. Mixing just for myself on 2x Technics 1210's just like it all started many years ago...... Never forget where you come from... huh ?
I apologies for the short jingles. They are put in there. Its done to respect the labels and artists who puts a lot of work into manufacturing the vinyls in the dig-age.... to avoid ripping etc.

With his new Pink Fly EP having just dropped via his own Whistleblower imprint, genre blurring UK producer Reset Robot serves up a seismic edition of DT podcast guaranteed to get you flexing all of those boogying muscles.

A Portsmouth native, Reset Robot runs the UK label alongside fellow South Coaster's Alan Fitzpatrick and Rhymos, and having developed an eclectic sound residing in the shadowy depths between techno and house, looks set to have the biggest of years ahead of him.

The record follows the producer's recent excursions alongside Jon Gurd and Tom Powell as one third of burgeoning techno triumvirate Mister Woo, and offers a complex blend of raw electronica, twisted beat patterns and snarling sonics guaranteed to set dancefloors on fire.

Created in his own image, the mix reflects both of his recent EPs in its ability to make coarse, muscular clutter undisputably danceable. 1. Hi guys! Thanks for checking in with We Are Machine!  Where and when was this mix recorded?

Reagan:  This mix is an hour pulled from our 3 hour set at the PLAYASKOOL dome out at Burning Man this past summer!
 
2. What specifically made this gig stand out for you? What made it special?

Chris: Well, at first the gig was a bit trying, as we had been DJing around the playa for almost 24 hours at that point. We walked up to the booth and John Acquaviva and Tara Brooks were playing to a fairly large crowd which- being tired like we were- was a lot to take in. After playing for about 45 minutes we had a good vibe going in the dome, and the energy was running high and we were really getting into it. 

For me the last hour or so was very special as the sun was rising on a beautiful Friday morning and there was a specific group of people who were dancing hard to our music. It was so cool to watch how our music was making these people move and how connected they were to our creations. Also, meeting and bonding with Kaz was a highlight for me. Super sober vibing old school raver – he was vibing so much I thought he was high on drugs but he’s just elevated! I am glad I connected with him.
 
3. What was your approach heading into the gig? How did you prepare?

Chris: We have all our music categorized so we can choose our selections wisely depending on the situation. We prepared everything way in advance as we are total studio hounds so the month leading up to the burn was spent focusing on music to make playa magic for others.
 
4. What are some key moments that stand out for you?

Reagan: An exceptionally receptive crowd, an alien landscape, a giant fire installation on the roof and a wicked sunrise! Nowhere else do you get this kind of dreamscape scenery- like something out of a movie. It’s forever embedded in my memories.

Chris: Watching people dance to our music during the sunrise is something I will always treasure.
 
5. Looking ahead, what are some key dates coming up on your schedule?

First, we’re off to play Phoenix, Arizona with our good friend Tara Brooks on December 23rd. Then we’ll be spending some quality time with our families for Christmas. After that we are very excited to be playing New Year’s Eve in Brooklyn, NY for the Cityfox Experience 26.2 hour New Year’s Marathon party with quite the all-star lineup! Then, we fly back to Los Angeles to play New Year’s Day at night. We’ll then be spending some time with our friends and colleagues in Tulum connecting with nature in the jungles and getting some inspiration.
