Jalaya is taking Bass Music by storm with channeled darkness breathing through hooks of gritty basslines. His signature percussion punches through glitchy distortion in a whirlwind of sonic contortion. On a mission to unsever our primal connection to spirit by shining a light on the shadows to awaken the Freq of nature within. 

Born Jalaya Ocean Frisella Kunst, he started his career as a multi-genre drummer 20 years ago while growing up in the Tetons of Idaho and Wyoming. This child of the wild previously spent 7 years leaving his mark on California’s Bay Area, honing in on his hybrid style of West Coast Bass, and is now based in Oregon. 

Jalaya has seen major success with releases on Bassrush, Saturate and Sleeveless Records. His debut EP The Cobra on Sleeveless ranked him number two on Beatport’s dubstep charts in 2020. Leading to support from household names Nghtmre, Slander, Liquid Stranger, Stylust, and DMVU. 

 He takes to the stage fusing the best of both worlds with an unforgettable hybrid performance of live and electronic music. Showcasing his experience behind the drums of nearly 2 decades. Thus far, he’s earned stage credit at festivals like Lightning in a Bottle. Wobbleland, The Untz Festival, Emissions, Toxic Summer, Camp Questionmark, Stilldream, Santa Cruz Music Festival and more. 

Jalaya has found a comfortability in expanding the boundaries of modern bass music, he knew it was time to launch his tastemaker LoFreq in 2019. Releasing two massive compilations, Cypher Vol. 1, Cypher Vol. 2 and Vol. 3, spotlighting over 100 innovators worldwide in the scene. He's hosted takeovers at The Untz Festival in 2021 and Toxic Summer. When the darkness paints the sky the Freqs come out to Jalaya’s tasteful immersive experience.
