Three EPs on I’m a Cliché from 2012 and a bunch of EPs, tracks, remixes and edits on international imprints such as Correspondant, Relish, Days of Being Wild, Throne of Blood, Kill the DJ and more, made Red Axes gain respect throughout all the cold-ravers community. 

“Kicks Out of You EP” is their fourth EP with the Paris-based boutique I’m a Cliché. It is their last DJ-friendly record (both vinyl and digital) before the awaited release of their first LP entitled “Ballad of the Ice”. Three original tracks are included. They feature: a tune in Spanish in “Candela Viva”; some spoken word in “Kicks out of You” (courtesy of their Brazilian punk friend Abrão, the same who featured in their hit “Caminho de Dreyfus”); and finally some unexpected samba beats in beautiful “Too Late to Samba”.  

The reason why these two young guys born and raised in Israel should be that attracted to Latin America is like the reason why they should be so interested in German and French coldwave and other underground genres from the seventies and eighties: it shall remain a mystery. Red Axes are space and time travellers. However, what they send us from their trips is far from the typical postcard or the beach selfie. On the dancefloor, their sound plays with our craving for darkness, our sense of fun and our blue feelings; it frustrates and obsesses us. And thanks to their incredible technique, their passion for the past and the remote translates into something that belongs to right here and right now.

Israel’s hottest export follow up excellent EPs on Hivern and I’m A Cliché with a 3-tracker for the global psychedelic cult of Multi Culti.

Tel Aviv’s Red Axes are one of the most exciting new acts in dance music, with rich sound that is musical, deep, trippy and organic, while remaining precise and lethally effective in the club. The range in their sound is impressive, their talent unmistakeable. They are one of our favourite artists of the year, and this latest record is one of their best yet.

Lead track 'Waiting for a Surprise’ builds around a mid-tempo disco bassline, with tough percussion, and rugged synth stabs, but it’s the eerie and unique sounding vocals of Brazilian collaborator Abrao that bring everything together. This one is a guaranteed bomb for building up, tearing down, peak time or chilling out… an outstanding track in every sense, the kind that force trainspotters to the DJ booth to discover what’s playing. Next up, ‘Hope’ kicks off with resonant, delayed toms, adding a haunting howl and synths before dropping into a wild, clanging, carnivalesque frenzy. It’s understated, but advanced, with an interesting arrangement that really opens up in the second half. Finally, 'The Metal Bender’ slows the tempo but ups the vibe into an elated, slow-burning space-disco anthem. Fantastic stuff!

Melbourne’s Kris Baha, fresh from launching his Power Station imprint, offers a stripped down remix of ‘Waiting for a Surprise,’ with a heavy, industrial-influenced groove that wanders into the deep, dark end of party strasse.

Auton (aka Mx Silkman) from the In Training collective makes her follow-up from last year's Jacktone Records release with a 4-track ascent into a maze of pummeling overtones, dissonant patterns, and hypnotic rhythms. 'Tute Bianche' is inspired from the social movements from '94-'01, where white overall-wearing demonstrators in Italy, and other parts of the world, protested anti-globalization. It is here that Auton channels this militant ethos with conscious, minimalism techno that embodies the movement's "padded bloc" tactics.

Red Axes, the duo from Tel Aviv, returns to I’m a Cliché with a third EP with the label: "Silver Bed". The record follows 'Tour de Chile' and '1970', plus few memorable remixes and edits. The three original tracks of 'Silver Bed EP' sometimes leave the dancefloor to a place where psychedelic delight prevails. Aleister Crowley's presence on the cover, the occult honcho adored by all the hooked musicians from the sixties-seventies, seems to point out the pop-culture lineage Red Axes refers to. The growing number of connoisseurs of their sound will recognize the dark but not melancholic atmosphere, and their production skills: effective and precise, never demonstrative.

1. Silver Bed 
Mixing disco punk rythm with reverse guitars, 'Silver Bed' keeps moving forward with assurance and a stoned groove.

2. Queen Spade 
'Queen Spade’s' queen of spades is one of those queens who enjoy poisoning their targets. The acid and heady poison is surely addictive.

3. Red River 
'Red River' drops the binary beat and calls upon an all guitar-riff melody that you would like to hear in an underground seventies movie.
