Welcome to where I call home
No matter where in the world I might roam
Chicago born and raised then migrated
To NYC now I'm fully grown
The things that I've seen I've been in war zones
And communities rich in culture unknown
To most it's a must that I mention it 
Between the good and the bad it gets ugly although
It's a testament to the system of this social experiment 
Urban planning programming new zones
Drug lords don't live in the hood bro
See we're just all tryna get by with these high risk high yield ventures right?
We are the heartbeat 
the pulse
The soul of the city from which greatness results
Bid your neighbors hello and let's go
Think global act local look out for one another
Protect what is ours promote further growth
Opportunities won't make themselves
They never have
Sit and wait for things to get better never that
I say this so that you will know
That decentralized wealth is what will work for sure
Instead of funneling energy into the machine
Keep it close to the source form new revenue streams
Pay attention the children have dreams 
And school districts have needs to be met so think
Through business taxes the cash flow would reach those 
Intended to receive power to the people
That's just the beginning what could be achieved goes
Beyond what we've all been led to believe 
How many of us leave to go work for them
Siphoning strength no reinvestment let's set goals
Been claimed the streets but who's in control
We're treated like savage beasts cops on patrol
Undertrained unprepared walking beats whoa
What'd they even send you here for?
Just some elderly folks some kids playing ball
I'm heading home from work had to stop at the store 
Im a husband a father a blue collar man
Got more than one job but somehow I stay broke
The cost of living is no joke
Think that college degree is a guarantee? Nope
Be in debt until you die if they had their way
Telling you yes it's fine you'll be okay
That's how credit grows
Just take out more loans
And tell me who will benefit off of those
