"Velocity" is the first Stig solo release since 2013’s ambient work "Hydrocycle". A single album length composition in two parts, Velocity is not about speed, it is about movement and displacement.

The music moves through a number of styles and forms, blending classic game sounds with prog rock, fusion and electronic dance music, developing and evolving as it moves forward, only looking back to realize how far it has come.

It plays out as one big cinematic night time adventure in the city, with music that takes you through nightclubs, city streets, motorways and busy plazas, where the city is defined and laid out before you but the journey is yours and yours alone as a listener.

This is music intended with the scope of a video game, a world for you to exist in and make your own, but set in the real world, an adventure for your ears within the great adventure that is your life.

A purely electronic work diligently programmed one note at a time, setting the classic chipsounds of the MOS Technology SID and YM2612 against the vintage electronic drums of the Roland TR-909 and a contemporary rock and dance sound, Velocity is not merely nostalgia, but music truly for 2015 and for everyone who has grown up in the classic era of gaming.

VELOCITY is the 28th chapter of Stig and his first for Ubiktune.

I try really hard to keep the soundtrack incredibly diverse, so that each song means something, and they all have their own unique ideas, and sounds. This song is probably one of the more drastic examples of that. >~>;  It's fun to try all sorts of things! ...I' went for a classic JRPG type of sound with this one!

After a miscommunication of each other’s intentions, Toho and Otoh catch their breath and acknowledge each other's composition... If either of them were to find the Perfect Tune, it'd be better they worked together as a team. After all, music is something to be shared! Otoh explains that the wicked Order of the Tune is after the relic, too, and is intent on keeping its power all for themselves... that can't be good! The world below the clouds is far noisier than Toho thought… No matter! Otoh believes working together, they can reach the tune before it falls into the wrong hands. Their journey begins to the West, where the first rumors of the Tune’s whereabouts could be: the fabled Deepwood, an ancient forest of melodic spirits!

Magma Monolith is another theme that was not composed for the original Nexus soundtrack. The original Magma Monolith theme was never settled on, and this is remake of a track I wrote in 2012 called "Magma." It is included in Nexus Genesis because it still fits the bill! Act 2 is faster and more syncopated, reminding you not to stay inside a volcano for too long!

The beach trope returns as our story begins at Sunset Shore! Bouncy and tropical, this theme barely hints at the perils that lay ahead. Act 2 uses more chromatic harmonies to clue the listener into unfolding tension.
