Yesterday, and as part of #WomensHistoryMonth, i met (very much socially distanced) Sarah Forgesson, a current PhD student in the IoA.  This is by far the furthest distance travelled by the podcast as Sarah is currently home in New Zealand.

It's February - but this is a massive Tuesday Throwback to August 2020 when Charlotte met up (online - of course!) with illustrious Alum Beth Hinton-Lever. Beth and Charlotte chat the heatwave of 2020, the impact of Covid on musical theatre and of course...dogs. 

Beth has a BA in Classical Archaeology and Classical Civilisations from University College London and a MA in Musical Theatre from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.

Beth also provided the Voice Over for The Blind School: Pioneering People and Places for History of Place and Museum of Liverpool. Her awards include the National Student Drama Festival Award for Best Choreography.

Today marks the 1st Day of Women's History Month - to celebrate i'll be posting a podcast a day (some might be a throwback to 2020) celebrating the women of the UCL IoA (staff, students and alum) and asking: tell me about a woman/women who has/have inspired you. 

Today i met Dr Josie Mills - i first met Josie in 2010 at the start of the IoA journey - we chat archaeology, Jersey, Basil (note: cat) life during lockdown, and how fieldwork enhances your life and your soul!

Today we celebrate the 2nd day of Women's History Month 2021 with one of our current undergraduate students, Naomi Allman.  Naomi and i originally recorded this parkaeology podcast back in July 2020 - and this host then forgot to post it.  So, today we post this with an additional segment on women who have inspired Naomi.  
New introduction regarding any discussions around Covid and restrictions relate to summer 2020 (also it being the hottest day of last year). 

Naomi and I chat Indy the therapy dog, travelling, studying, musicals and fieldwork. Enjoy!

Today I had the pleasure of catching up on Teams with Dr Rahil Alipour, someone i haven't seen or spoken with since lockdown 2020.  Rahil and I chat her research (which is amazing), life at the IoA, our love of nature & Patti Smith. We also chat about Rahil's moove from Iran to the UK and what it's like to be away from your family.  
All part of Women's History Month 2021 - enjoy. 

Rahil is a Scientist in Archaeological Sciences, Materials and Technology. Her work involves analytical, historical, and archaeological research into ancient technologies, complemented by experimental archaeology. Apart from Archaeology, Rahil is a visual communicator and enjoys making art, using various media and strives to blend creativity and arts with material science research, science communication and education.

Today i met with Hannah Page (who, like me, started at the IoA in 2008) via a short range social distance from my home in North London to her home in North London.  Hannah and I chatted inspirational women, what drew her to archaeology, George the cat, fieldwork & take aways.

Hannah Page PhD candidate in archaeological science.  Researching ceramic technology from the early 2nd millennium CE in Uganda. Hannah undertook her undergraduate degree with us in BA Egyptian Archaeology in 2008, continuing on the MA in Artefact Studies and now coming to the end of her PhD.
