Feryne has been mixing electro, IDM, and techno since 2005, performing across Hungary’s club and festival scene and internationally in Germany, Croatia, Slovakia, Austria, Romania, France, and the Netherlands (Drift Festival, Het Nest Festival, ADE). Now based in Nijmegen, she is a resident DJ at Open Source Radio.

“Known to his friends as Xuki, Atmotic has been a DJ and record collector since 1998. The first cassettes he bought as a kid, by artists such as Vangelis, Jarre, and Enigma, shaped his musical taste to this day, with ambient electronica still remaining one of his favorite styles. However, he is quite versatile and owns an extensive vinyl collection of over 3,000 releases covering a wide range of musical genres.

The first labels he became obsessed with were Rephlex, Warp, and GPR, featuring artists such as μ-Ziq (Mike Paradinas), AFX, The 7th Plain, and B12, among many others. In his view, the essence of electronic music hasn’t changed that much, you can still clearly identify the influence in the work of new artists. What has changed is the accessibility and the tools available to produce music, resulting in bigger number of artists to discover, though not always with the same level of quality. 

Moreover, he believes that mainstream artists from 20, 30, or even 40 years ago were often far better than many of today’s, where social media and marketing are often more important than the music itself;  this is particularly applicable to some of today’s DJs”.
