Hello all,
Let me introduce you "Hot Spirit Mix" which i started few weeks ago but i stopped it due to the things of life and i wasn't ready to finish it...
Since then, I have taken my time, i also remembered about the first vinyl that i had between my hands, when i was 3 years old...It came from my dad and it was a LP from Ella Fitzgerald/Duke Ellington*
At home, we called the turntable "pick up" with the speaker into the cover ! Sat down on the floor, i always listened the same track "It Don't Mean A Thing...". I was fascinated by the "doo-ah, doo-ah, doo-ah..." What a swing, what a voice...
About Jazz, Soul, Blues, Funky music, dad used to say "...Black artists are hot on stage, they are very very good performers...!"
When i had the idea of this mix, my goal was to put hot sounds, powerful voices. I was looking for swing, without to play high tempo...
Hot Spirit is close of my sensitivity.
Big Up to all the Musicians and Performers to give us beautiful ingredients for happiness time.
I'm still impressed by the quality of work from DJ's, Remixers

First of all I like to wish you Merry Christmas. Think about positive things in life and have a great time together with your Family. That´s most important. I am really happy to give away my this years "Christmas Mix" (Number 05). This time I decided to record my DJ Mix in a Club in Germany (Augsburg) called "Kesselhaus" which I really love. 1. Tell us a bit about yourself and your record collection.

Since 1984 I have been collecting vinyl, so as a result, many rooms in my flat are overpacked with the blackgold stuff now. In regards to directions and music styles, my collection includes a wide range, mainly Indie, Reggae, Hip Hop, Electronic, Breakbeats, Jazz, Swing, Folk and some Soul.

In 1995, after 11 years of „simply“ collecting, I became a Hip Hop DJ in Hamburg which led into several other projects, e.g. my own sound system „Fatbacksound“ and a band called Caracho. But the most exciting experience was opening my own club Echochamber. Nowadays, after Echochamber’s closure, it is fun doing some small DJ jobs every now and then.

2) 45/7 is all about celebrating the 7". Can you tell us a bit about what you love about the format.

I like all kinds of formats, but the 7inch is the deepest and very reduced format for a track and this is what I like most.

3) One hour of vinyl goodness... can you talk us through your selection for your 45/7 mix?

I take the listeners on a trip with an oldschool Dancehall/Roots selection back into the last 30 years.

4) Where can people catch you / listen to your music?

Jay Dee’s “Welcome to Detroit” was the album that kicked off BBE’s Beat Generation series. This seminal album (it even has its own Wikipedia entry) cemented Dilla’s reputation as a virtuoso beat maker with a remarkable range of talents. For the first time, (from that album) “Think Twice” appears on a very limited 7” single. It is a cover of Donald Byrd's seminal classic featuring Dwele on vocals... it shows Dilla’s supreme versatility behind the boards (and on the mic — it’s not the featured Dwele that sings the hook).  
 
And from his posthumously relealeased album “The Shinining” :

Common, meanwhile, does the Common thing, which is to ride the beat dumbly (but appropriately) on standout robofunker “E=MC2,” Despite Kanye boosting his sales numbers, it was Jay Dee who consistently brought out the best emcee in Common, his former roommate, and he proves it again here on "E=MC2."
