Mindspring Music Present: State Azure - Hex EP [MSM011]

State Azure makes his debut Mindspring appearance with a melodic & progressive release, with wonderfully glitchy elements and deep ambiance. Hex swirls with pads and twinkling keys, while its subterranean bass pulls you in, a very hypnotic and eveloving tune. Twin Shape is first up on remix duties, slowing things down and putting a Psychill spin on the original. Magnus is up next, raising the energy levels with his signature Psytrance style - never losing the gorgeous feel that Hex exudes. Transmission is on the B-Side and keeps the EP flowing in the same sort of channel. Much more on the glitchy side with its percussion and sweet little psychedelic stabs, it features the same sort of breathtaking swells and bright plucks. The atmosphere morphs and shimmers beautifully, while the low-end rolls ever forward. Condensspur has chosen to focus on the ambient elements of Transmission and created an elongated intro with wonderful additions, such as guitar, in his remix - A great bookend to this well crafted EP.

Derived from the Latin “Ultimae Terrae,” meaning “the furthest places,” the name Ultimae reflects a profound theme of exploration. This concept is at the heart of Ultimae Records, an ambient music record label and publisher dedicated to transporting listeners to the outer edges of experience through sound and offering a space for introspection and discovery within the vastness of the mind and beyond.

In 1999, Vincent Villuis and Sandrine Gryson, also known as AES Dana and Mahiane, united over a shared passion for the immersive world of electronic music. This collaboration led to the birth of the label. Initially envisioned as a musical portal, Ultimae’s mission was to explore and disseminate the diverse expressions of Ambient music far and wide through the production of records and the establishment of an online shop.

Over the years, Ultimae has expanded beyond its original scope, evolving into a multifaceted company with sound design, post-production, and mastering studios based in Lyon, France, along with professional services in publishing, music licensing, and synchronization.
