Our second mix is being released on Global Drone Day, an event created by Marie LeBlanc Flanagan of Weird Canada (https://droneday.org). This mix includes a new track by Chihei Hatakeyama from his forthcoming album, "Thousand Oceans," which will be released on Dronarivm in June on LP, CD, and digitally.

The mix, compiled by yours truly, Dmitry T., features tracks from various recent releases in the contemporary ambient/drone scene. These tracks have been a source of inspiration for me, and I hope they do the same for you. Drone on!

A few travels Sweden to France and vice-versa; constant bandwidth; and duo H.U.V.A. Network composed an album of immersive tunes infused with oneiric trip-hop, ambient geometries and morning trance.

[ Ephemeris ] is a deep sonic ground swell, an album of contrasts, 10 tracks structured upon subterranean bass lines, transversal and luminous pads, crisp, crunchy beats. A mesmerizing ensemble of fresh atmospheres and intense, forward driving melodies.

The inspiration for the album title comes from the artists Vincent Villuis and Magnus Birgersson's collaboration process, determined by the patterns of encounter in time and space, the alignment of creative moods and coordination of life's innate forces.

When swedish artist Solar Fields (Magnus Birgersson) meets french artist AES Dana (Vincent Villuis)...the outcome is H.U.V.A. Network, a downtempo project where North and South regions mix and jumble together in a fluid manner. 

The pair of sound architects explore ambient-electronica landscapesand their multiple layouts.The album was thought out and composed in two studios : 
- Studio Jupiter (Göteborg - Sweden) 
- Ultimae Studio (Lyon - France) 
Musical works and ideas were conceived in this two creation poles via a few travels and a high speed internet network connection, thus breaking [ Distances ] which separate the two composers. 

6 months of composition, 2 weeks of mixing and a week of mastering with Huby Sea, were necessary to give form to this outstanding encounter album.

Ultimae proudly presents Connect.Ohm [ 9980 ] a collaborative album born of the musical encounter between composers Hidetoshi Koizumi aka Hybrid Leisureland and Alexandre Scheffer aka Cell respectively based in Tokyo and Paris. 

The composers discovered each other’s work through solo albums previously released on Ultimae, and on a brief meeting in Paris in 2011 decided to blend their worlds of sounds and textures. 
The outcome is subtle and emotive. 

The nine tracks released on [ 9980 ] compose a ballad in atmospheric realms where finely chiseled rhythms and fluid melodies are sustained by discreet downtempo grooves and deep drones. 
A pure delight for vast soundscapes audiophiles.

After multiple releases on various labels including the much acclaimed Abstrakt Reflections, here comes [ Elsewhere ], Miktek's first full length album on Ultimae. 

Mihalis Aikaterinis, Greek artist, has a natural ability to compose music as ethereal as deeply grounded. With roots in the gothic and cold wave realms and a genuine passion for the electronic scene, he weaves with verve and subtlety finely crafted rhythms and soft melodies. The wide soundscapes, floating atmospheres and resonant themes reveal profound emotions akin to melancholia and hope. 

[ Elsewhere ] is a cinematic downtempo, IDM and ambient album presenting 12 tracks including a remixed version of Ominous Ride featured on the [ Ambrosia ] compilation.

James Murray and Francis M Gri's Remote Redux is a delicate and original response to distance and closeness as expressed by the Japanese concept Ma, known also as negative space. It's a place of elegant dimension where Gri's graceful piano motifs and bowed guitar figures are carefully framed within the free flowing surrounds of Murray's warm synth sequences and nuanced sound design.

Having released each other's work on their Slowcraft and KrysaliSound imprints James and Francis naturally extended this exchange into a remote London-Milan collaboration. The resulting debut is an unhurried collection of exquisitely crafted minimal ambient, tender and contemplative, a listening experience that simultaneously explores and distorts our awareness of separation and togetherness.

Derived from the Latin “Ultimae Terrae,” meaning “the furthest places,” the name Ultimae reflects a profound theme of exploration. This concept is at the heart of Ultimae Records, an ambient music record label and publisher dedicated to transporting listeners to the outer edges of experience through sound and offering a space for introspection and discovery within the vastness of the mind and beyond.

In 1999, Vincent Villuis and Sandrine Gryson, also known as AES Dana and Mahiane, united over a shared passion for the immersive world of electronic music. This collaboration led to the birth of the label. Initially envisioned as a musical portal, Ultimae’s mission was to explore and disseminate the diverse expressions of Ambient music far and wide through the production of records and the establishment of an online shop.

Over the years, Ultimae has expanded beyond its original scope, evolving into a multifaceted company with sound design, post-production, and mastering studios based in Lyon, France, along with professional services in publishing, music licensing, and synchronization.
