This release is a little different from my usual line, results from an obvious folk influence and turns around quite dreamy lyrics and romantic musical arrangement. The mood of this song is about allowing yourself to imagine another life, feel another world, transform one another and, by embarking this imaginary journey, actually just to be. A 3:15 minutes glimpse to a lifetime voyage towards an untethered soul…

Realizing this song brought me a very nice surprise in the form of a pleasant new collaboration. The lyrics required a female voice and I had difficulties finding the ethereal but not immaterial one I had in mind. The challenge persisted for a couple of weeks until I got in touch with Hana Pavšič - the talented Slovenian artist who covered this song with her beautiful voice and brought the extra touch to it, giving it this enchanted atmosphere I was after for this Magic spell.

Magic spell

“Nodo” es una pista que combina Indie dance y Deep House. Esta pista se encuentra en la tonalidad de sol menor. “Nodo” se aleja del ethos melancólico de “Rimasay” y se moviliza a un ritmo más festivo y una sonoridad retro. “Nodo” desemboca en una caída en donde el violín desarrolla un motivo y construye varias capas rítmicas y melódicas con diferentes articulaciones propias del instrumento, esto fabrica una atmósfera de conjunto de instrumentos, donde progresivamente se van sumando una a una cada voz. La participación de la marimba dentro de esta pista se enfoca más en un rol complementario que fortalece la textura y la atmósfera de la pista.

Label all-stars Mononoid return to ICONYC with an absolute classy piece of music entitled 'Running out of Time' featuring Amy Douglas White on vocals. The Dutch duo who has been a prominent mainstay in the electronic underground kick' things off nicely with their original mix of 'Running out of Time'. The full-on festival vibes shine through, as we meander effortlessly through club inspired melodies, while the sultry chords and Amy's wonderful vocal sit wonderfully on top adding an extra layer of depth. Mononoid's trademark beat manipulation is prevalent, as all manner of elements drift in and out of earshot. Perfect for beat loving club crowd or to close a big night out in style. 

Kate Ozz, who has been coming through the ranks at lightspeed, certainly needs no introduction with recent releases on Disco Halal, Selador and Nightcolours. She created a rework full of good energy from the word go, as the atmospheric indie dance vibe subtly keeps you moving with warm tinkling sounds, a smooth edge and some nicely effected sounding pieces. We basically have the formula for a bit of a monumental outing. The sparseness is the key here, as her restrained gem works its magic while it plays away, creating a warm glow, creating an air of sophistication. "Essential stuff!"

Next up we welcome back label stalwart Frank Sonic this time around in collaboration with Larsun Hesh to the label, the German / Ukrainian duo known for their polished sound, keep the ethereal theme of the original alive, as the pulsating bass powers along, before its drum fills and general warmth all combine to do the talking. Like something from yesteryear, yet sounding fresh – Their transcendent touch up takes the energy levels up a notch, but increases the melancholy with stripped back and lucid elements at the same time, before the luscious pads grace the rework changing the vibe and creating a blanket of warmth that wraps around the effected groove. Wonderful remix from Frank & Larsun that will certainly cause havoc whenever played out.

The third remix coms courtesy of fast rising ReCorpo who has seen his releases appear on some of the biggest labels around. ReCorpo's deep, compelling and acutely mysterious and richly textured groove make for a lovely first act. As atmospheres evolve, distinctive stabs and vocal edits steal the air, before a one-minute break takes you further into a haze of psychedelic audio, perfectly setting up a groovy finale. A brilliant remix from ReCorpo that's likely destined for the sets of the big boy brigade. Highly recommended.

With "Sunset Serenity," I wanted to create a musical experience that offers listeners a refuge of tranquility and introspection, akin to the sensation of watching a peaceful sunset. I was inspired by moments of peace I find in nature, especially during those magical times when day meets night.

I used a rich harmonic structure and variable dynamics to reflect the complexity of human emotions. The minor chord progressions and the key of G# minor add a touch of melancholy, while the diverse instruments contribute to a complex sonic texture. My intention was to create a musical narrative arc that guides the listener through an emotional journey from calm and introspection to intensity and, ultimately, to peace and reconnection.

At the end of the creative process, I felt that "Sunset Serenity" managed to capture the essence of the transitional and reflective moment I wanted to convey. The piece not only offers a space for relaxation and introspection but also succeeds in touching the listener's soul with its emotional depth and harmonic beauty. It is an auditory experience meant to bring inner peace and reconnection with oneself, a serenity at sunset.

Beyond The Fields (LANDR remastered)

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Egyptian duo Aguizi & Fahim with ‘Faint’ for their debut release on ICONYC. The original is an emotionally charged progressive house groover that opens with all manner of melodic synthetic bleeps, sound bites, chopped vocal snippets and futuristic effect hits before the lead melody gradually eases into the fray. The track continues to build on a solid foundation of tough percussive grooves and bass-lines. A gorgeous progressive house cut that is perfect for that prime time dance floor moment that will get you moving all night long. 

Adding to our list of all-star remixers, we brought in ‘Just Hear’ the moniker of non other than Richard Zagiba aka Ri Za. Richard, who knows a thing or two when it comes to mind blowing reworks, turns his mix into an irresistible track using the original elements with perfection. Richard layers more melodies and effects, whilst upping the flow with cleverly programmed percussion and their trademark FX elements. Essential stuff!

The second interpretation comes from a man who's on fire at the moment London based sensation 'Zak Gee' who masterfully toughens up the percussion, complimented by a huge brooding bass, chopped synth hits and subtle chord changes whilst stripping back the melodies, giving his remix a hypnotic spaced out vibe with a rolling tech house beat, closing out the release with another stunning remix from Zak.

'Faint' delivers influenced progressive house beats that will make everyone smile. Another essential track from ICONYC aimed straight at the soul, be ready to dance to it!
