As we edge ever so close to 200 releases on Pogo House Records, Dr. Shemp drops ‘The Lost Trax Vol 1’ for PHR198 and brings a stacked 3 track EP.
Dr. Shemp delivers ‘Untitled 3’ that has hints of inspiration from RIP productions. Soulfully pleasing pads alongside crunchy percussion and a deep mesmerising bassline give off a nostalgic feel on this lovely garage joint.

‘No Matter What’ on the flipside has that old skool NYC House vibe nailed. Sassy vocal samples pinned down by a dubby bassline groove, accompanied by swinging percussion, all shrouded by dreamy pads that encapsulates the vintage sound of the 90’s down to a tee.

‘It does what it says on the tin’ is the old saying and ‘Lift Me Up’ certainly puts the proof in the pudding here. Dr Shemp serves up a lively number for the third track consisting of US Garage style kickdrums and intense electric piano keys. Straddle all this with uplifting vocals that really whip up a storm and raise the energy levels through the roof on this jam.

UM (untitledmusic - named so because that was what the default folder we created on our work computer was called) began life in 1996, with two aspiring DJ's trying to blag their way onto promo lists. A printed fanzine made in the dead of night when our employer wasn't looking spread far and wide across the UK's finest vinyl record stores with a little help of some of the seminal deep house labels and people. Over the following years it grew from print to new music podcasts, to websites, to social media and gave birth in 2011 to UM Records.

 

The aim was to build a label synonymous with up and coming producers, a springboard for talent to go onto bigger labels and great success around the world supported by a community of like minded deep house fans.

Since 2016 the label has operated on a not for profit basis - reflecting the tough nature of music business today. Allowing the UM Records to be uniquely focused on creativity and music, not profit. Across digital and vinyl platforms UM’s sound is ever evolving, always emotive, often challenging and a name you can trust to bring you the very best of deep house.
