The new album BACK TO LAND: out now 🔮

Umbrellabirds is Sam Blickhan, Lewis Daly, and Alex Hunt. The band began as a long-distance recording project when Sam Blickhan and Lewis Daly began exchanging demos in 2013. Alex Hunt heard these sparsely beautiful demos and initially signed up to produce, but was soon recruited as a full band member. The intricate, autumnal debut album was recorded in 2014-16, the product of many late nights and countless miles of travel. Oda Almås played strings on the self-titled debut. Shortly thereafter, the band began work on their second album—Closing Ceremony (2020)—featuring a bigger sound and a wider collective of musicians including Shyam Prasad on drums, Will Harvey on strings, and Cath Day on clarinet. Their third album—BACK TO LAND—was released in November 2025, further developing their signature indie-folk sound. Umbrellabirds have been played on BBC 6 Music by DJ Tom Robinson and featured on the BBC Introducing Mixtape.

Le Dorian Altwies Trio est un groupe de Jazz manouche originaire de la région Lorraine. Leur musique est imprégnée de la culture des peuples nomades et se caractérise par sa spontanéité, son énergie et ses influences multiples.
 Leur style principal est le Jazz manouche, un genre vivant et festif avec des rythmes entraînants, des improvisations virtuoses et l'utilisation distinctive de la guitare acoustique. 
En plus du Jazz manouche, le trio explore d'autres genres tels que le swing, la valse, le boléro et la bossa nova, ce qui ajoute de la diversité à leur répertoire. Le groupe crée des arrangements uniques et originaux en fusionnant harmonieusement ces différents styles.
 Leurs performances sont marquées par une présence scénique pleine de complicité et une ambiance chaleureuse.

All tracks  are recorded in a spontaneous manner typically in a single take. Most lyrics are also spontaneous improvisations derived from the feelings of the moment. We let the guitar and drums interact and the music just happens. Most if not all of the music is inspired from this interaction.

The recording equipment up until January 2019 consisted of a dated Fostex 8 track and a few microphones...We simply lay down a guitar and drum track and let it unfold the way you are hearing it by bouncing tracks. We just have to make music to live. Music of any kind, music that speaks for itself... 

In January 2019 recording equipment was upgraded to Logic X and a UA Apollo MKll Quad Core Recording interface...We entered a new building and still trying to find the light switch so bare with us as we keep lighting matches...
