Matías Levy is a pianist and composer from Buenos Aires, Argentina, specializing in contemporary and electronic music. Blending instrumental, ambient, and noise aesthetics, Levy’s compositions focus on the exploration of time, rhythm, form, and the superimposition of textural planes, utilizing self-generative processes.
"Espektra” emerged as an incidental music piece for a dance performance by Isabella Sidotti. This five-part cyclical work integrates elements of techno and ambient, employing metrical irregularity, glitch, and distortion as mechanisms of structural corruption and replication for dance. The dance piece reflects themes of corporeality, the human figure, and systemic social corruption, creating a soundscape that mirrors and amplifies the performance’s narrative.
In “Espektra”, Levy crafts a nuanced auditory experience, reminiscent of cinematic scores and avant-garde electronic music. His use of glitch and distortion techniques, combined with ambient textures, evokes a sophisticated and immersive soundscape, echoing the thematic intensity and meticulous attention to detail found in contemporary electronic music. This approach ensures that “Espektra” stands alone as a compelling exploration of sound and narrative.

[Premiere] Matías Levy - Espektra 3 (Nodo)

I was in Birmingham International train station, boiling hot after being used to Glasgow's wet sunless summers. I filled up a waterbottle and the electronic advert next to the dispenser was emitting this electronic drone. The music you hear is taken from that 20 second recording. 

It was a boring, uncanny moment, where I was vacantly processing our worsening climate emergency and how amazing it is that things can just keep going on.  

The title comes from Judge Hehir's sentencing of the Whole Truth Five in July 2024 stating that “whether or not we are facing the end of the world is neither here nor there" and that humanity “coming to a fiery end” is irrelevant". A shocking denial of reality and punitive measure in face of very real global catastrophe. And a deeply resonant instance of society's inability to see what's coming.

Tallinn's OG mainstay Nikolajev hops back on Sad Fun camp to hand out two bass loyal dancefloor beasts. So, I’m actually a huge Project Moon fan. I’ve been wanting to make something in the fanbase for a while but kinda was stumped. But I finally had this idea. So I did it. I was going more for a feeling of absolute dread and impending demise with it as opposed to a huge battle type thing. Tried to make it a bit more eerie. But yeah. I had fun with it, and I hope you all like it. (P.S. the heartbeat is actually just a drum with copiously perfect effects. Idk how I did it). Also please join the discord below!!!!!!
