Umee Dee’s trippy melodic house mix for road trips

This is a live recording from my set on 3/11/2022 at F8 Nightclub in San Francisco as part of the Something Queer Re:Union party. The event was a huge success! I played in the back room after Mr. Seago. The set includes a lot of great dancy progressive tracks on the more melodic side. This was a bit more of a "club set" than my normal darker mixes. Something Queer REboot Party DJ Mix (progressive to groovy house) at Club F8 Feb4 2023 San Francisco

This week's edition is defined by inspiration. I went to a series of beautiful shows over the weekend from All Day I Dream with Gab Rhome, Double Touch, and Lee Burridge to Afrobeats at a friend's birthday party to a dark Burning Man camp fundraiser to the Chicago House legend Mike Dunn on an Oakland rooftop. The title mostly refers to the vibes: Airy melodic ADID-inspired tunes that descend into deep, dark, melodic, and progressive house music. The vibes, surrounded by friends, old and new, were immaculate. I hope you enjoy this one.

"Normally I know that high expectations kill the vibe, so I always try to walk my way open minded and don’t expect anything special from the future, but this time I couldn’t help it. When the Robot told me that she wanted me to play the sunrise set and that we will be connected with the Mayan Warrior soundsystem, I could feel it already in Berlin a full three weeks before… Then when I finally took the bus over to Robot Heart it was even better than in my craziest expectations. This gig was by far the most emotional gig I have ever played. All I can say is thank you, I am even more happy now to be born on this weird planet which can be really beautiful sometimes, when you give it  chance to be free. Thank you you for dancing with me and giving me so much Love. So here is my try to give something back.

The human body is the most highly engineered object in existence, a machine of uncountable parts and unfathomable function. Its workings have served as inspiration for all of humanity's greatest inventions. This work is an homage to the two most amazing mechanisms in that machine: the human eye and hand. The head is a 16 foot camera obscura demonstrating the ray optics principals underlying the spherical lensed eye humans posses and the hands are actuated mimicking the tendons and bones of the body. Together they represent what separates life from the rest of the universe, the ability to observe the world around us and manifest change in that world.

It’s pretty hard to describe anything from Burning Man without using phrases, sounding pathetic or cheesy. 
So maybe I shouldn’t try. Or I just don’t care about it?
Pablo asked for a little intro about my set in the tie-up night with Robot Heart when I played the Mayan Warrior art car, so here we go:
Every night, when the Mayan Warrior art car leaves its camp on it’s way to the deep playa it feels pretty sublime, like a wake up call for the rave kids with this drum beats, like a ritual where they follow it’s spiritual leader, the warrior dancer follow their flagship art car, it’s getting more and more crowded, surrounded by hundreds of bikes and of course I’m super nervous entering this elevated Dj booth, shaking from the bass or is it just me? And from one moment to another I am in the middle of lasers and fire, I am taking over the booth and after a second I’ve forgotten every fear and just start playing...
