Spanning hi-octane indus bullets, half-baked mutant salvos and shadow-clad juicers from a host of reputed names and rabid underdogs, this new comp collates ruff’n’tuff joints from gritty techno don Container, genre-unbound explorer E-Saggila, Berlin’s electro arsonist Privacy, acid-spitting hydra DJ Loser x Penelopes Fiance, basement guerilla Yabboq Penuel alias Le Syndicat Electronique, neo-punk beat thrasher Crave, Yves Tumor collaborator and sine-wave crusher Anthem, expert circuit dissector Beau Wanzer, Liquid G as remixed by Mick Wills, Night Gaunt’s Lower Tar, occult machine funk preacher Maenad Veyl, DJ Chupacabras under new guise 110, soundwaves cross-pollinator DJ Richard, vibrant mood-scapist Gavilán Rayna Russom, as well as label boss Myn going ubiquitous with studio fellows Kluentah as Myntha, and NYC's R Gamble under their Fade Accompli moniker.

Working with photography, video, and audio, Okuniev’s practise is inspired by a fascination with his motherland’s nature, customs, and traditions. In Ukrainian culture, the land occupies an important place and is one of its main symbols.

Land is a deeply haunting and atmospheric portrayal of the destruction inflicted upon Ukraine since Russia’s invasion. Burned forests, ruins of houses, and destroyed armored vehicles dissolve into the environment, as the land absorbs the traces of war.

Since 1st March 2022, Okuniev has dedicated himself to a volunteer organisation Livyj Bereh, who travel to different regions of Ukraine to deliver essential items and to help people rebuild their houses, witnessing the shattering devastation firsthand.

The composition consists of five tracks, that are each different in sound and character, but together form one story. Long drones create a harrowing emptiness, as instruments float in and around the composition, unconfined and lost. The final part is symbolically associated with the sun, the beginning of something new. He recalls how the sun would rise over a large destroyed high-rise building, or a decimated house in a village, illuminating the ruins.

More than 9 months after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Kyiv-based label @standard-deviation releases 'From Ukraine, For Ukraine’. It is a fundraising compilation gathering 20 tracks, in honor of the affiliated ∄ club's third anniversary. All proceeds will be donated to the K41 Community Fund. "In accordance with our current feelings, the tonality of this compilation is melancholic and fragile, yet hopeful." says the label itself. @katarina-gryvul is one of the Ukrainian artists who is part of the compilation, and we are delighted to share her track "Ocean" as part of our premiere series.

Welcome to the richly rhythmic and deeply esoteric world of Zaliva-D. Based in the Chinese capital of Beijing, they’ve been circling the country’s borders for more than a decade due to the extreme difficulty of streaming music there. Zaliva-D consists of musician Li Chao and Aisin-Gioro Yuanjin, who’s responsible for their stunning live visuals. We’re very proud to present Forsaken, their 4th album, but first ever vinyl release. Wrapped around a core of gut wrenchingly ferocious kicks and haunting vocals, these tracks possess a mantra-like quality and drown the listener into a world of Chinese and South East Asian textures. Forsaken, mastered by Wouter Brandenburg, is their most well-written, organic and esoteric record to date, showing a more fragile, sensitive side. Beijing-based duo Zaliva-D returns with a second installment on Knekelhuis. After last year’s great EP, released on Shanghai label SVBKVLT, Zaliva-D unleashes a new record in these unreal pandemic times. At its core is a concept of data’s capacity to overcome any boundary, whether that’s physical, digital or mental. 
The material at hand, created after the second European tour, pushes heavily through walls, with bombastically accentuated kicks. Blended with joyous, psychedelic songwriting, it is a testament to the power of music to unite despite involuntary confinement.

Zaliva-D - Immorality [EP preview]

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new video from Evitceles. Following acclaimed releases for electronic powerhouses as Opal Tapes, Yerevan Tapes, Seagrave or Sofia-based Amek Collective among others, Bulgarian producer Etien Slavchev presents Нелюбов (Sound + Matter). Roughly translating in English as 'Nonloveʼ itʼs exactly what youʼll get from the record. Нелюбов is mostly occupying the lower ends of both the frequency and the emotional specters of Evitcelesʼ music. 

Today we present the video for “Weak Eyes”, one of our favorite tracks on the album and a slow burning, rhythmic work of haunting atmospheres with a trip-hop vibe. The whole album is an incredible work of genre bending tracks and shows the diverse range of Evitceles. 

Нелюбов is out September 25th and you can pick it up on now on Bandcamp.
