Signals 13 has landed courtesy of Crete based DJ and Producer, Fragedis. 

During the mid 90s, Fragedis started frequenting clubs and parties, where he developed a keen ear and immersed himself in the electronic music scene. It was around this time that he started collecting records and CD's, which led to him becoming a DJ. He then worked in a record store for 5 years, fuelling his interest even further. Fragedis has become a widely respected artist, and has had the pleasure of sharing the decks with DJ's such as Alienata, Pasiphae and Delta Funktionen. 

It was around 2005 when Fragedis started to produce music - first toying with Reason, then later moving on to Ableton Live. Fast forward to 2019 and he's released on a plethora of well regarded labels such as Pi Electronix, Phormix, Soil, Negative and Modal Analysis - check out his Intersection EP, it's seriously good. Keep an eye out for future projects, there are plenty incoming. 

For this hour Fragedis has expertly pieced together a stellar blend of Electro, with hints of wave and body music throughout. This is a really good one.

Coming from a background of drumming in various punk bands, Severin Black under the moniker Nape has for the last few years been forcing rhythms into their most self-deprecating fissures. With four EPs and a 7" out on labels run by the likes of Strahinja Arbutina, Spiderwrap and DJ Valentimes, his next release will be a stripped back modular exercise on Nick Klein's Psychic Liberation imprint later this year.

This hour-long contribution to us is an attempt to represent Severin's simultaneous anxiety and euphoria experienced whilst making it from his living room in Peckham, London. It contains tracks by Loose-y Crunché, Beau Wanzer, Ekaterina Bazhenova-Yamasaki, Isabella, Robert Wyatt and Acidic Male among others, as well as an unreleased Nape track not yet given a home.

Chicago’s Beau Wanzer makes for a special case in today’s electronic music game. Molecular biologist by trade, the American producer tinkers with his analogue gear like a mad scientist; slicing, dicing, drilling down and through the super cial dermis of raw machinic spurts and variedly sourced samples to extract a sizzling juice of fractured synthlines, frantic scope distortions and off-kilter rhythms that goes unparalleled these days.

In recent years he has had collaborations and formed various projects, he is also known under the names: Mutant Beat Dance (with Traxx and Steve Summers), De-Bons-en-Pierre (with Maoupa Mazzocchetti), Civil Duty and Garum (with Shawn O Sullivan), Juzer, and Streetwalker (with Elon Katz)

His release history includes labels such as L.I.E.S., LA Club Resource, Jealous God, Ophism, Suction Records, BREW, Nation, Cititrax, Rush Hour, Dark Entries, Mannequin, The Trilogy Tapes, and his own 'Self-released "label. 

"The mix is a hodgepodge of failed electronics, punk pricks, comical conundrums, and a love song," - explains Beau Wanzer.

Inspired by Clarissa Pinkola Estés canonical text, Women Who Run with the Wolves (1992), the eponymously titled Donne che corrono coi lupi is a dedication to feral feminine energy, connection and sisterhood. In the book, Estés – a psychoanalyst, poet and cantadora, or “keeper of old stories” – draws on Jungian theory to weave an alternative mythology of The Wild Woman archetype. She conjures images of the underworld, rivulets of menstrual blood; a lumpen mass of placenta splattering onto a cave floor. Reimagining folktales in which women's creative power is released from patriarchal constraints, Estés finds affinity with nature. In a mirrored gesture, Osàre! Editions label boss Elena Colombi has curated a poetical array of tracks by over twenty artists, giving rise to a primal, mystical compilation.
