Beloved label inductee S0MBRA returns to Unbeyond Anthologies for the melancholy follow-up EP “The Empty Hourglass”.

Featuring a markedly more sobering atmosphere, “The Empty Hourglass” explores both new moods and new genres for the neo-noir maestro. Garage and techno are key flavours in this new 3-track package, enveloped in themes of regret, hopelessness, and longing. At the center of it all is the nostalgic, nocturnal vibe that made “The Darkened Path Ahead” such a standout release.

"I’ve been on the run for years in fear that I might one day catch up to myself. I pulled the strings of a puppet that portrayed me to the world, but I knew that someday those strings would snap, leaving me exposed. I turned the other way when a hazy spectre appeared before me in the mirror, distorting the only son. What if it bled out of the cracks covering my crumbling body & took his place in the world? A thousand tiny fissures would expose the false prince and destine the kingdom to disarray.”

“I see it clearly now. I was born with a curse buried deep within my code. I was born to fulfill two separate roles that can never be reconciled. My vessel and spirit failed each other, leaving us stranded between two worlds. The narrow bridge between has long closed. Is it too late to repair what has been done?”

By delaying the inevitable, I’ve only compounded the pain. Now I must make my choice. Two doors appear before me tonight.
