My thoughts:
SHEEESH.
9.8/10.

#2. @the-nilk - it is now, that we seek recompense.
My review-like thoughts:
THIS. This is what i like to call,
"Heavy Excellence".
the drops remind me very much of
@avancesounds and @nospheremusic,
the ominous and unnerving atmosphere
feels like something out of a horror film,
and the rest needs no review.
my ranking: 10/10.

#3. @clwdytunes - DECAY
My thoughts:
i love pitched up tracks like this,
and this is an example.
my ranking: 9.4/10


#4. @shimiviolet - [a Flower quickly fading]
My thoughts:
an absolute masterpiece of a track,
from the drop, to the vocals.
it truly is one of the most beautiful tracks
from the underground.
my ranking: 9.7/10.

#5. @sorisofficial / @ESKVY - Sinopia
My thoughts:
hoping to see an EP from either one of
these extremely talented artists soon.
pretty much all.
9.9/10.

#6. @s0mbrasounds - Limbo (Original Mix)
My thoughts:
After hearing the remixes,
i figured i'd have this on repeat for a while.
Very surprising difference here.
my ranking: 10/10.

Introducing Esoteric Bass, the next movement of creativity from the underground.

Marked by the common themes of the abstract and surrealism, eccentric energy, a strong emphasis on songwriting, dense composition, and a vast pool of genre influences, Esoteric Bass encompasses the growing field of outsider approaches to the electronic underground.

It can be dark and twisted, but can also be energized and hopeful. The linking thread is the pervasive sense of strong oddity, the non-conformity to trends, and individualistic confidence.

I've been yearning to push more outsider mentalities into the communities I'm a part of, and with my label Unbeyond Anthologies making a mark on the underground's consciousness alongside a swath of artists daring to do things differently and be unapologetically themselves, now is the perfect time to go further than before. 

Bold styles and constant reinvention are the hallmarks of health and creativity in a scene, and I want to do my best to strengthen that in any way I can. And going forward, I will continue to platform the best and most bizarre in the scene with absolute confidence under this new umbrella.

Dense soundscapes and hauntingly vast melodies are the DNA of this eclectic EP, with the beautiful opening title track setting the stage for the rest of the project. “Modern” features dark basses and soaring melodics, leading well into the intimate dubstep shaker “Pressure Pulse”, made in collaboration with label inductee S0MBRA.

The energy picks up with “Into Your Ocean Of Thoughts”, an electrifying drum & bass track with equal parts beauty and impact, and the project closes out on “I Wanna Hold You”, wistful, eerie, and immaculately assembled in every facet. With this collection of songs, Ojela cements themselves as a master of emotional force and textured production woven together.

"Throughout my 5 years of producing I have always struggled to “find my style”; which has led to many frustrations. Stressing myself out about “fitting in” or what sounds will get on the big labels. It’s all so tiring.” Inkdot said. “I had forgotten that making music is supposed to be fun. This EP is a collection of my favorite tracks I’ve made, spanning various styles and genres. This is my first multi-track project. Even if my art goes unnoticed, I choose to never abide by the standards set by this scene. I choose to be a lurker."

Showcasing prodigious songwriting, incredible attention to detail, and an emotional vocal performance, [a Flower quickly fading] is the absolute spitting image of shimi violet’s mastery of electronic music and usage of the medium to tell engaging stories. Everything about their truly idiosyncratic sound comes together to make what will certainly go down as one of 2025’s best songs.

“i don't actually believe in miracles. to me it just felt like waiting for something to happen, and i don't like waiting for miracles; esp when i'm mostly 'abandoned' and facing human horror alone. but i wasn't really empty-handed; i was trusted to keep living and use the skills i've been blessed with to create, basically serve the world around me with it.” said shimi violet. “when scavenger mentioned that the ‘shimi violet’ project was the first artist requested for unbeyond anthologies, i knew i gotta do something, and do something huge for everyone, so you should be expecting the usual pretty shimi violet tune, but also a music video that hopefully conveys my thoughts decently!”

Making a dynamic return after last year’s “The Haze” and a variety of compilation appearances, The Nilk delivers “it is now, that we seek recompense.” through Unbeyond Anthologies.

Continuing on a similar wavelength to their debut Unbeyond release “why is it now, that i’m falling apart?”, this new single is a sprawling, atmospheric dubstep song packed with ominous soundscapes, dark spoken word, and unnerving, metallic drops.

“This style, this long-form ambient-dubstep blend is something I’m very happy to be pioneering. Just as ‘why is it now, that I’m falling apart?’ from last year, this track seeks to delve even deeper into the lore and storytelling of the world of The Haze. Blending styles of dark ambient with the ghastly themes of horrorstep, ‘it is now, that we seek recompense’ will drive you further towards the edge of sanity.” says The Nilk. “The protagonist continues their journey, coming to terms with the formless haze that they have released. This creatures runs rampant through their mind, stripping our protagonist of their individuality and attempting to take full authority over their mind. Candles of Truth were created millennia ago, and the answers provided by them drove their creators insane, leading to the living artifacts being hidden around the world.

They appear inert at first glance, and only spring to life when their wick is lit aflame. Their eyes then light up, and the brightness of their fire blasts visions of every moment of your future to you in a disorienting sequence until their wax is fully melted. This kind of information was not something that humanity could ever handle at once, however, and absolute insanity is nearly guaranteed.

It has been discovered, as previously mentioned, that these artifacts are indeed alive, and the process of burning them for answers is incredibly excruciating to them. It is highly advised that they are left to gather dust in subterranean storage throughout the world, as their inert state is like a dreamless coma. Best to let these creatures not experience that sort of pain.

The madness experienced by people exposed to the answers given by Candles of Truth drives them to truly horrible things, especially mass murder and occult activity. The price of understanding is far too grave for the benefit to ever be worth it, and lighting a Candle of Truth is one of the worst decisions one could ever make.

“Wax Blood” closes things out with the most high-octane energy of the project. The bells and jittery synth melody immediately make you feel like you’re present for the end of the world, and then the drops plunge into some of the most fiery flows I’ve ever written down. Even in the moments of downtime, there’s no relaxation as the suffocating atmosphere keeps things on edge. The entire track feels like constant panic, and ends off with feelings of unsolved questions, setting up Chapter 2.

For whom the bell tolls: "Hell Valley Sky Trees"

To celebrate over three years of the Scavenger alias, I wanted to go back to lost and forgotten tracks from my past and bring them up to my current standards. Introducing a song that has been in the vault since 2022: Hell Valley Sky Trees.

This sinuous and gurgling dubstep track is underpinned by the distant, melancholic chimes of bells, and is my love letter to the era of video game urban legends (hence the reference in the name). It's surreal, lighthearted yet unsettling and cryptic, a complete encapsulation of the themes of my discography. The fever dream-esque memory of this song is all too real, and it is finally seeing the light of day three years later.
