Italian DJ/producer, The Southern, returns to the EI8HT label after 2020’s ‘Raw Culture’ EP, with another collection of bass bin rattling, high octane, techno bangers on the ‘Raw Break’ EP.  

Since his last appearance on Eats Everything & Andres Campo’s label, The Southern has notched up releases for Truncate, Say What?, Tronic, and his own rawthing. label, amongst others.

‘Come With Me’ boots things off in fine fettle, as incessant organ stabs and reverb-soaked pads tuck into a clap happy drum workout that really soars.  Granite hard beats and metallic hats carve through ‘Raw Culture’, as its vocal gets pulverised, whilst ‘Raw Organ’ slides into Chi-town jackin’ tech territory, with a nod to the Dance Mania style and a slammin’ vibe stamped all over it.  ‘Trax Jam’ closes this stellar EP, again, showing The Southern’s more housier chops, whilst still keeping the energies spiralling.

In February 2022 Catz 'N Dogz is adding to their Step Recordings roster the young talent Lewy and his debut EP 'Ninety Seven' on the label.

After releases by Baldo, Third Son, Jackson Ryland the legendary duo is adding yet another outstanding underground dancefloor missile, this time from W&O Street's usual suspect Lewy. 'Ninenty Seven' is a collection of 4 fast paced deep club rollers, with hints at a variety of genres and all driven by unstoppable grooves. Step never misses a trick. Avision makes his debut on Ben Sims' Hardgroove imprint with Culture, an EP comprising four memorable and kinetic techno cuts and including an edit from Sims himself. 

Having previously cropped up on Mark Broom's Beard Man imprint, Avision (real name Anthony Cardinale) has a knack for turning in gritty grooves that draw on earthy, discoid constructs and that's exactly what we have here with 'Culture'.

From the eponymous opener throughout, staccato stabs characterise and propel the tracks in different ways - whether via rolling, almost-there disco loops, gleefully abrasive call and response rhythms or, in the case of Sims' edit of 'Jux', nifty vocal sample interplay.

True to Hardgroove form, 'Culture' is a release crafted for the dancefloor and delivers with exacting precision.
