Carpet/Steam, the new techno-oriented sub-label from Lisbon's Carpet & Snares Records, launches with this 5-tracker from Nuno Costa aka VIL, including a remix from Rotterdam legend Jeroen Search. Each of VIL's originals finds a unique space in which to incubate, emerge and flourish – sometimes more foreboding, sometimes more expansive, but always tight as a drum. Search's remix of 'Commander' is a masterclass in tension-building, rounding out an assured and battle-ready release.

This expansive debut from Matt Hayes on @kombinat-london explores the tensions between the internal and external journeys we all have to take to find our place in the world. 

“Pursuit” uncoils through propulsive kicks and rising atmospherics into a snaking acid riff. “Domain” delivers the heartbeat of the EP with an epic melodic thump morphing into gyrating percussion and bells. “You Owe Me” reigns things in with its restrained looping groove. “Surrender” delivers the final exhale with a freely unfurling track that radiates the joy of arriving at your destination.
