TM Shuffle is more than just a name in the international dub techno scene. The Finnish producer, DJ, and head of VUO Records has a rare talent for distilling the essence of depth, space, and rhythm into his productions. His music is infused with a hypnotic pulse that doesn’t shout loudly but tells stories subtly – of snow-covered landscapes, quiet nights, and an unwavering love for electronic music. What sets TM Shuffle apart is his uncompromising dedication to reduction. His musical philosophy is not about quantity but quality: less is more. By deliberately limiting himself, he becomes more creative – digging deep, searching intentionally for the right sound, and developing a distinct musical signature. This principle is evident not only in his productions but also in his thoughtfully crafted, driving DJ sets.

He shares this passion off stage as well: as the label head of VUO Records, he provides a platform for other artists who share his vision of dub techno – raw, organic, and timeless.

In a personal conversation with Andre Kronert, TM Shuffle offers insight into his creative workflow and studio philosophy. In a world of unlimited possibilities, he consciously relies on a minimalist setup: turntables, a mixer, a few select synthesizers, drum machines, and a computer for sequencing. Catalogue number ten at Uncanny Valley and for this occasion the Dresden based label returns to its roots with another Various Artists EP. Actually, this is long overdue since there are a lot more talented producers to find in the Elbe Valley. On Uncanny Valley 010 we present four of them.

Sandrow M who focussed on the C-Beams project recently has been part of the label right from the start. With “The Three Trees” he makes his solo debut for Uncanny Valley. The track is a summery House tune that shines with Garage vocals and warm synth pads. Steve Kasper is slowing it down with “Unvexed Dub” which is an immersed House excursion for the morning hours.On the flipside Scherbe’s ‘Kill Bill$’ stumbles but does not fall. Instead, the track lives from tottering interaction between bright percussions and fractious drones below. Finally, it’s Jacob Stoy who closes the record with ‘S51′, a dreamy Deep House study including heavenly pads and subtle drum programming.

For the artwork we are very glad to welcome back Paul Waak and his colourful figures that gave the first four compilations their unique look!

UV010 will be released on April 23rd (Vinyl) and May 7th (Digital).

Archival beats from the Str8 Jakkin Kru, one of L.A.'s better kept secrets, which some would attribute to the fact that it's members were either dead or in jail before these tapes hit the streets. Not connected and with no industry leverage in a hyper competitive environment, these jams were left to collect dust in an Echo Park basement for the last 20 years. Shame we say, cause these are some sick sk3tch1z.

VF Mix 174: Sven-Åke Johansson by Phuong-Dan

DJ and music programmer Phuong-Dan is a passionate “anything-goes” selector. This eclectic open-mindedness can be heard in his sets – fuelled by his Pudel Club residency that spans nearly 20 years alongside international gigs, as well as his project specific audio works and programming. His passion for digging and collecting is ignited by a voracious curiosity, and genreless approach, something that is apparent when you see him play live.

For his VF Mix, Phuong-Dan explores the oeuvre of Swedish composer, multi-instrumentalist and artist Sven-Åke Johansson. For the uninitiated: Johansson is an unsung pioneer of free jazz and the fluxus movement, who never lets boundaries get in the way of his creativity – as likely to play boxes using a stringed bow as he is to wail out improvisational drum compositions.

Starting as a label that served basically as a platform for their friends’ music in 2010, Uncanny Valley evolved into a record label that assembles acclaimed artists from the electronic music scene not only from the label’s base in Dresden but also from Germany and beyond. With a strong emphasis on the records’ artwork the label heads Philipp Demankowski, Conrad Kaden and Carl-Johannes Schulze are constantly on a mission to establish and refine the artists from the roster as well as to search for new talents. Artists as Jacob Korn, Cuthead, Credit 00, Massimiliano Pagliara, CVBox or Panthera Krause all feel at home on the label, giving them the chance to develop projects that are not only music related but can also integrate different art forms. With the two offshoots Rat Life and shtum under its belt, Uncanny Valley does not stand still to explore the full spectrum of electronic and not so electronic music from House via Disco, Hip-Hop or Ambient through to Techno.
